For whatever reason my gmail either isn't updating or its being way laggy. For the past few days I have had to manually refresh my inbox to see what emails I may have gotten. And on the off chance I do receive my email I get multiple ones from a few days ago.

Anyone else experiencing this???

Yes i was along with many other issues. I just got off the phone with vzw about 30 minutes ago talking to the tech about all of them and the only solution they gave me was to do a factory reset. Which I did, and now my phone seems to be working better than ever honestly. This is the first time I have been getting my gmail, and the account i push to my gmail, in a timely fashion. So if all else fails you might wanna just try it. Setting up, re downloading apps, and configuring my home screens had to be redone, but took all of 20 minutes.

Also just read a post on Phandroid.com about this issue. Apparently you aren't the only one having issues today. Over there they mentioned something along the lines of google being hacked by someone in China.... So they had to change to https://...more secure. Don't know if this is whats happening to you but just something else I've heard.

Most likely that's it. Don't any of you read the news? This is huge. Google believes it was hacked and actually had source code stolen by those acting for the government of China. In addition, they targeted the gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists, thus the need to beef up gmail security. They've also targeted 34 other corporations attempting to steal intellectual property.

Google has recommended that other web email sites like Hotmail and Yahoo switch to https (secure, encrypted) email.

Google is threatening to leave China over this and has stopped censoring its Chinese website. Make sure IE on your computer is fully up-to-date and your Adobe Reader, too.

So what does this have to do with Gmail being slow to show up on Android devices? Not trying to be a smartass, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. I receive email very timely in my Gmail account, but it takes forever to show up on my phone. I've always had the "use https" setting checked on my Gmail account.

This morning when trying to do a manual sync, I get the following message:

"! Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.

ive seen that as well, its a valid error message and shouldn't cause alarm. It came back for me within a few minutes, i might have toggled the synch settings manually but it came back.

I've almost given up on Gmail on my droid. I'm glad I don't use it as my primary email. At least once a day the gmail app crashed and has to be force quitted. I have to manually check it to get it to start the app again.

Any entries I put into the Gmail calendar on my PC have a 50/50 chance of showing up on the phone within a few hours. That just sucks.

hmm thas odd mighty. i use gmail as my primary personal email account and have had literally no issues with it on the droid. instant push notifications on received email, never seen a crash or fc. The calendar is not a gmail calendar, its just google's calendar that is accessible via gmail, but all my events i've entered on the web have synched to my droid as well. I know telling you it works for me doesn't help your cause at all, but I do not think there are any widespread issues with gmail on the droid, it works for most users.

I beg to differ, gmail has definitely been an issue with droid users. I'm one, my fiance is another. And this is probably the 10th thread like this in the 3 months this phone has been out. On all the android forums this seems to come up and the hacking in China that went on is just making things worse. Hopefully something gets fixed here soon because I push all other emails to my gmail b/c its still faster than the normal email app on the phone. I tried k9 as well and that wasn't much of an improvement.

It seems to be hit or miss for me. It seems I have to manually refresh the email to recieve my new email. As of yesterday, it seems to be working but it has been off and on for about the last week for me.

I'm wondering if this might be broader than just android phones. I found this thread because I was searching for why my email forwarder was taking forever to get to my outlook mailbox.

My gmail is set up with 2 forwarders - one goes to Outlook and the other goes to a yahoo address. Messages are current in my gmail and yahoo account. And if I check gmail on my Droid it is also current.

Everything is current except Outlook, which right now shows the last batch of email arriving at 9:21a (over 3 hours ago).

It's pretty frustrating to try and figure out how to fix.
