Gmail doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy S3

I have not been able to get Gmail on my phone. All of a sudden the gmail app is asking me to register. When I try to do that and put in my gmail address, hit "Next"... nothing happens. I'm also noticing I can't access my Play Store

I can't uninstall this "app" because it really isn't an app (as I saw on the forums). How on earth do I fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Do any other Google apps or services work on the phone? Try going to Settings>Accounts-Google, select your account, then Remove Account, and then add it back again.

Did you recently change your Google password?
