Gmail not working

[Android Central Question]

Hi!
Few days ago I updated my S7 Edge's Android to v 8.0. Since than, gmail & sms app are not working properly. When I try to open the gmail app, it opens for half a second or so, then it stops & on the screen shows up a little window where it says that "Gmail stoped working" and i have 2 options: to close the app, and ti send feedback.
Can anybody please tell me what is this and why is this happening? I really need my mail and i don't know how to fix this.
Sms app is doing the same, but not that often as the gmail app.

Try clearing the cache for Gmail. Settings > Apps > Gmail > Storage
