GNex acting funky prior to update. Is it just me?

It just seems that prior to receiving OS updates, my phone just starts acting weird. It did it just before 4.0.2 last June. It did it again prior to 4.1.1 and now it is doing it again. It now asks me each time I turn it on, if I want to activate Google Location Services. I check the settings and check the box off, but when i turn the phone off, and back on, it doesn't stay checked. It also does random things like screen freezes, random force closes on didn't apps, etc. Has also randomly rebooted a couple of times. I'm completely stock, no unlocked bootloader or anything like that. Just curious if I'm the only one.

Normally when a device starts acting wonky, if there is no obvious reasons that can be found it usually is resolved by the dreaded factory reset. Possible things to try before hand like cache/data clearing of apps in question and checking for any problem causing applications recently installed or changed.

It is not uncommon to hear of strange activity after an update which then its usually followed up with a factory reset that clears out the problem.

Nah, it is usually just prior to an update that the phone starts to do funny things. In between the updates, phone works fine, after the update it works fine. I just seem to figure an update is coming, when my phone starts acting weird with little glitches. Same thing happened on my Fascinate. Since 4.2.2 seems to be on the horizon for us VZW folks, via an OTA update, I just figure it is getting close since my phone is doing these things. Similar to how animals know earthquakes are coming. Both of these theories are unproven, but seem to work for me. :)
