Speaking in general here, not to anyone in this forum. Remember the time of the smartphone, before the iPhone. It was just windows mobile and blackberry. Most people that used it were in business or tech because it was the next best thing from the PDA. An all-in-one device that not many people cared for or seemed that it was too much for what they needed in a phone. Then the iPhone came out and just blew that away. I was a windows mobile user, and admittedly was a little jealous but after seeing what it was capable of, not really that impressed. I'm a power user/customizer and thanks to windows mobile and the devs at XDA, I had all I needed. The only real thing I was jealous about were the apps that the iPhone had. More polished and just looked great. But the OS held its potential back which was why I held off until the 3GS. By the time of the 3GS, majority of the people were rocking the iPhones. Why? because it just worked. Very simple to use, beautiful apps. Point and touch use. What did you need the phone to do? Just touch the app, if not, get it in the app store. So, because of that, it brought more people in and blurred the smartphone line of power user to normal user. So much that, my PARENTS are rocking the iPhone, per my recommendation. My parents were using a "smartphone" and that's when I realized, I have the same phone as my parents. They don't even ask me questions about it after the first week. They just knew. Now, with the way Android is heading, and what it's capable of, customizing and newer hardware. People are thinking they're ready for something like android and all the possibilities. I don't think the public general user or even those same users that had the iPhone are ready. So I think that is why there are lots that go back to the iPhone. I showed my sister, who rocks an iPhone, what I could do on my Infuse. She's an RN by the way. Her quote is, "No, that is too much phone for me. I don't think normal people will understand that." I was just transferring files from my computer to my phone through wifi while I was remotely in my laptop. So I feel, the standard phone for normal users, should be the iPhone if they want to make that leap from a regular phone. It should have its own section under smartphone. Android should be labeled something higher. Superphone? I still think that old windows mobile is more capable than iOS, even now. Those that don't get it, don't worry about it. But I do understand why most people switch back. And by all means, do it if that makes your phone experience better. We have enough stresses in this world.
*edit I've had this in my head for quite some time now. Glad to get it out there.
