Goodbye Sprint - It's been a mostly great 8 years...

I ended up going with T-Mobile and I'm miserable.

Network is fast but calls drop like crazy!

That sounds awful. I've been holding out. I've been seeing LTE more and more as I drive around Jacksonville so.. Soon it will be just the norm to have LTE. Also in some areas I've noticed 3g getting better.

A example would be I'm on 3g right now downloading music off of Google Music but still browsing AC and my apps with no issues .

I also left Sprint too...Why should we pay them a $10 premium fee when the data is hardly useable? I was hoping they would fix their network and I waitied out a 2nd 2 year term and they never did. So off to ATT I went. If your in a good area that awesome! But sadly for many of their customers this is not the case. And for what they charge per month you see little no upgrades in most areas. Even when the plan was to roll out WiMax...

Just saying. I like their prices but the network is nothing more than a giant dial-up network at the moment. Maybe and I hope their LTE gets better. But it doesnt help the people with their 3G network. ATT did it right. HSPA+ for 3G then LTE roll out after. HSPA+ I get 5-7 megs down a lone. So when I do see LTE I will be blazing fast I am sure! :D

Yeah att did it right :)

My how things have changed in a few months.. Data is usable for me and LTE is popping up around town . I just couldn't survive without overage fees. I get to bored at work and I am a streamoholic usually lol. :)

Dropped calls is one problem I never had with Sprint. Data speed is only issue. I was thinking of switching to tmo but I've seen many complaints regarding dropped calls and I can't have that. Luckily Sprint has been improving little by little in my area and I've hit 4g several times in my town and in several towns ive visited. I even got 4g in Disney world which is awesome. Can't wait for it to keep improving. In the end I will try tmo if nothing improves within next 3-4 months. I guess we'll see

Be careful, T-Mobile will come with perfect reception the first 14 days then suddenly it will drop

I left Sprint after being told for the majority of my 2 year contract that 4g (wimax) would be coming to my city next month, the month after, next year, etc... They never could justify, in my eyes at least, the 4g phone charge. If I'm being charged for the privilege of having a 4g phone, shouldn't I at least get 4g coverage? I finally had enough and after my wife's prodding, joined her on Verizon and couldn't be happier with the service. I guess it's just something about not being lied to constantly.

I had Sprint up until May 2011. Before I switched I used an OG EVO and G2x for T-mobile for a week and tested them everywhere. It was painful to realize that Sprint 3g at its best equalled T-mobile 2g and T-mobile HSPA+ equalled or beat WiMAX (not where I live but in the next city over from me).

So true. Verizon is the MOST HONEST COMPANY EVER!!! I absolutely adore how customer-centric their business philosophy is. They treat people like people, not like revenue streams. Just look at the insanely high bandwidth caps that nobody could possibly exhaust in a month.

^^This might be satire.^^

After 6 years with Sprint, I also had to say goodbye. Their service in NJ was much better than GA. I was constantly dropping calls even after they sent me an "air rave". I switch to VERIZON, and now I know what all the hype was about .......it is worth it ...IMO

I Agree! When I first joined Verizon, the first phone I got from them, the LG Revolution, died on the 14th day of ownership. I called the store (not a corporate store) that I bought the phone from and got every story in the book, including they would have to order the phone and it would take 2 weeks. They said to come in tomorrow (day 15) and they said they would see what they could do. I called Verizon and told her the story and she said they were just looking to get out of having to accept a return, so she spent a few hours trying to reach someone from the store, including the stores manager, after having no success she got in touch with her regional manager, had me meet him in one of their stores, she said she would call me back in a half hour giving both of us the time to get to the store. She then called, had me hand my phone to the manager and guided him through what had to be done with both my account and the offending stores account (remember I didn't buy this phone at a Verizon corporate store). The rest is history.

I live in NYC my speed was terrible, one day 4g popped up on my s3 I was getting 27 down and 10 up. All of a sudden no 4g but my 3g was good. 3 down and 1up. 4G is back up and running.. Now I get 24 down and 8-10 up. Glad I stuck with Sprint and it's unlimited data. Never had problems with calls, although I text more but occasionally I get double text.

I use to work at a sprint call center. The $10 premium data fee is for any smartphone not just 4G. If you didn't experience it on a previous smartphone its because it was grandfathered in.

You call this premium data?

That's typical Sprint speeds. On a good day I think I once got 1 mps down, but most of the time it was about 300-400 kps

It's been a 7 year journey for myself. I too have been lied too, they have put false notes into my account records, retentions has hung up on me twice because they couldn't figure out an answer to my question...just to name a few. It really was the hing they just told me that really drove that final nail down. The lady told me that Sprint couldn't guarantee coverage inside my house inside the coverage map. Where my apartment is in comparison to the towers around me, I should be swimming in signal. They sent me an Airave which turned out to be a joke. It does nothing more than route your phone calls over the internet and act as a wired router. Also found out that if you don't log into the Sprint website and tell your Airave too only accept your number, then all it does is act like another Sprint cell site. Thus giving in my building with some kind of Sprint service better signal thanks to my cable internet. They don't tell you that, only if you ask about that specifically. That's not the only thing that has really just drove me over the edge. Just like the OP said, service has just went down hill to the point that I just can't take it any longer. I now have a Nexus 4 on the way and will be a proud pre-paid T-Mobile cell customer from here on out. So long Sprint, I really wish this could of worked out...but it's not me, it's you. Take care of yourself, for I fear that if Sprint doesn't get this 4G roll out right, then this will spell the eventual end to them. Bye guys, it's been real.

P.S. By the way, just an fyi I found out. If Sprint ends your contract early and doesn't charge you the ETF, you have to send your handset back.

Well I definitely sympathize with everyone who is suffering through Sprint NV deployment. Last summer was pretty bad here in Chicago, bad data speeds, dropped calls, texts that didn't get to my phone until hours later. Talk about a mess. But I have to hand it to Sprint they credited my account everytime I called to complain.

Last September they finally flipped the switch on LTE and it's been pretty good. Calls hardly ever drop, data speeds have been jaw dropping at times (although it's still pretty erratic) so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Hopefully by mid summer of this year the NV rollout will be complete here in the Chicagoland area I can truley enjoy Sprint's new network.

I understand the gripe about their service but at this point there is no point to continue complaining. There are plenty of choices if Sprint doesn't work for you. If Sprint hadn't started upgrading their towers in my area within next couple months I would have switched to tmobile. But they have since started and in 2 major areas in my small town they have even left the 4g towers on permanently. I think this thread should be shut down and if by end of year Sprint hasn't done what they said I'm sure we'll see plenty threads regarding people leaving Sprint.
