That's good cause they ain't getting any apparently. LOL!

Samsung is moving directly from 4.1.2 to 4.3 on the S3...a phone that's technically older than the HD and M and got 4.1.2 a full 4 months before them. We're talking VZW S3 here, to make it a fair comparison. Maybe Moto plans on skipping 4.2.2 on the HD and M, too, but, I seriously doubt it.
I *REALLY* hate the "most users don't care" attitude. Maybe they don't. But they should. Updates bring security fixes. You know, those things that keep malware off your phone? It's all well and good to say "I don't care about new features". Fine. But "I don't care about updates" is ridiculous. Do you skip windows/linux/mac updates each month cause you don't care?

And yes, malware is a HUGE problem for Android right now. Google has done a LOT of work with the 4.x releases to increase security. SELinux now being a reality on many devices now, as an example. But if devices aren't getting timely updates, they're at risk of being infected with some really nasty crap. And yes, some of it has been found on the google play store, so, saying "I only install apps from..." isn't a valid security measure anymore. Browsers are another attack vector. People need to know what they're up against cause it's getting worse and worse. Running old versions puts you at greater risk IMO.
This is also why I applaud CM's business plan to bring CM to more devices. They keep their stuff updated quite well. That's what Android needs more of. If the carrier and mfg aren't going to put any effort into keeping your OS updated against known security threats (and btw, every root exploit is a security threat....just an FYI), then unlock the damn device and let someone else do it.
