Googel duo query

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung s10, I've had it since the summer and have never used Duo. Yesterday I got a message off a friemd saying they'd had a notificatiin to say I was now on google duo and would they like to video calll me. How has this happened? If I now open Duo it has my number and email logged in but i jave never ever been on there before, so why has it sent a notification round telling my phone contacts I'm using it?

Must have set-up at some point if it has your number , you can disable Duo if you choose not to use it or get notifications.
