My truck does not have a built in bluetooth system for calls, so I use a Motorola Roadster Pro bluetooth speaker for calls instead. When I press the voice activation button on the Roadster, the Google Assistant opens, but it does not hear me say anything, almost like the microphone is not working. This function worked fine on my old HTC One m9 but not on my Pixel 2. I have the Setting "Bluetooth Headset" option turned on under "Other Voice Settings" in the Google app but it does not appear to be working. What am I missing here?

Hey bud. Just got mine and I'm having the same problem. This stinks. Seems like they would test stuff like this before releasing!! Keep me posted if you find the answer. I will you as well.

You think it's a Pixel thing or an Android 8.0 thing? Is the Pixel 2 the only thing running 8.0?

I also tried using a Motorola H17 headset I have laying around. Same problem, Assistant opens but can't hear anything. And since it is connected to Bluetooth, the handset microphone does not work either.

So when my S3 Frontier watch is connected via Bluetooth the assistant won't work?

Just noticed assistance isn't working for my 2 xl over Bluetooth either. When I try to speak to the microphone, it's not picking up my voice. When I turn off Bluetooth, it works fine again.

My Google assistant is working fine in my car. Haven't tried through Bluetooth headphones yet.

I posted this yesterday.

Got an email this morning about my support ticket. It was forwarded to the Assistant developers and they'll have a fix with the next security update "soon".

Thanks for the info.

Can you post the email they sent. I have been on chat with the support folks for ~1 hour, and they are saying they have no reports of this issue.

Sorry, should add, I am seeing the same issue. Pixel 2 with Powerbeats 3 and Powerbeats 1st gen. Will not work at all.

I received an email from the Google Pixel team asking to send them a bug report. I sent it in, didn't hear anything back.

Do you have the assistant enabled to take requests over Bluetooth? I know it's probably a stupid question, and where you first started, but you never know!

Did you read the post? He/she said they did. I don't know if this is just a Pixel problem though. My Pixel hasn't come in yet, but I have the same problem with my Galaxy S8+.

I'm seeing this issue on my car bluetooth adaptor (a cheap bluetooth/fm thing off ebay). My old phone running 7.0 works fine, but the new Pixel 2 does not hear anything - even if activated with the squeeze feature or centre button.

Try going to settings on Google now/left pane. skip over the assistant settings, and click on voice. there should be an option at the bottom that enables recording from Bluetooth if avail. maybe that will work?
