Hi,

Google Calendar

An event keeps disappearing when moved sometimes. It disappears and moves back to the previous slot.

Sometimes an event cannot be edited and all you can do is force close the app and some changes will undo.

This has been happening for over a year now.

Do you have a solution for this?

What I have done:
* Cleared the cache
* Booted

Best regards,
Jo

Welcome to Android Central! Is this only in the app, or also on the Google Calendar website?

Are you using your own calendar, or is this a calendar shared to you by another person?

How are you moving the event in the app? Are you selecting the event to edit and changing the date there?

Hi,

Only in the app. My own calendar. And yes, I'm selecting the event end changing the date.

Ok, so you change the date, it shows up at the intended date, but then at some point it disappears from that date and reverts back to its original date?

When you make a change, can you confirm that the change shows up elsewhere (like on the Google Calendar website on your computer browser) immediately?

Actually it disappears when I try to edit it after the date change. Then it returns to the previous date.

The change shows on the GC website right away.

Try clearing the app cache/data for Google Calendar in Settings>Apps, then force stop it. Then open it again and give it a few seconds to resync.

Strange behavior. Chances are that you can't uninstall the app completely, since Google Calendar is preinstalled on many phones. If you can, then try it. If it's preinstalled, you could at least uninstall all updates and see if that does anything.

You said this is happening in your own calendar -- just to be sure, this is a Google Calendar calendar, and not the locally saved "My Calendar" (i.e., the one that's only saved to your phone account), or some other imported calendar (like from a Microsoft exchange account), right?

@B. Diddy

Hi again,
I uninstalled Google Calendar completely and reinstalled it. Now I have used the calendar about 4 days without any complications.

I guess at somepoint the package or app got corrupted and needed a clean install.

PS. I'll keep this thread alive for some weeks and if nothing happens or do happen, I will notify you.

Thank you for your help.

Sorry to hear that. When you uninstalled it, was it completely removed, or did it just uninstall all updates?

No, what you did is what would be expected for Google Calendar if it wasn't preinstalled.

You mentioned clearing the app cache, but it would also be worth clearing the app data for the Google Calendar app, then force stopping it. Then open it, and wait a few seconds for it to resync with your Google account. (But be cautious about clearing the app data if you have any events saved only to the local Phone account calendar, because those might be deleted and not be recoverable, if they weren't backed up anywhere.)

Also, which phone do you have? If it didn't have Google Calendar preinstalled as the stock calendar app, then have you tried using the Calendar app that came with the phone?

It can be hard to tell if some other app might be interfering somehow with Google Calendar. Since it's not preinstalled, you can't use Safe Mode to troubleshoot.

It's worth trying Samsung Calendar, and add your Google Calendar account. See if that works better.
