Google Camera App on the S10

I just looked at the link Jeepentj posted. That is same developer of the Note 9 version I am using. I'll probably use his since has wide angle in it.
I don't see where it utilizes the wide angle camera. I just get a zoom toggle but at it's widest point it does not use the wide angle lens.

Also not sure how to use the wide angel, only flips between front facing and rear for me. Also can use the portrait setting which swaps lenses as well but no wide angle.

Installed the apk but can't find a folder named gcam/config files. The new icon was created for the glam camera but I haven't opened it because I wanted to unzip the config files first.

Can some give a couple of pointers here.

First off, you must have an Snapdragon S10?S10+, mod will not work with Exynos. I used the instructions provided on this link from Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/...even/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Scroll down to the section I've pasted below and follow the instructions and you should be good to go. The wide-angle lens will also work. IMPORTANT: Do not open up GCam until you've extracted the Gcam.zip listed in the instructions.

For the system update ending in SBA (received on or around March 8, 2019)

S10_1_MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova_TlnNeun_V1.3.030119.0645.apk by Arnova8g2 with a couple mods by me

Download this zip: https://drive.google.com/open?id=18JIIUxxBW5f0xphVl42QL_0AIFnVruyA

Open My Files, find the Gcam.zip (probably under Internal Storage/Downloads/) then tap the GCam.zip, click Extract, then press Back, and you should see a GCam folder. Long press that, select Move, go back to Internal Storage, click Move Here

Open Google Camera, double tap the black space around the shutter button

March patch: Select S10csMar2.xml and Restore. Now when you cycle the camera switch icon you'll get the wide angle sensor eventually.

I've always thought Night Sight photos looked really cold. Really, Pixel lowlight photos in general look too cold to me. Almost everybody else disagrees with me though.

I agree. If you were trying to capture the natural look and shadows it's not the best choice.

I can't try it because I don't have it yet but are you sure about the wide angle. I remember it didn't work for the LG V series and they actually had two different Gcam ports for normal verses wide

Positive as I have it installed on my phone. You want to ignore the other Gcam ports listed on the Reddit link and just scroll down to the section I mentioned. It has the port you need and the config file activates the wide angle lens. To switch to wide angle, you need to double tap the "camera switch" button.

Djlee0314, thanks for the help but I've tried more than half dozen times and the camera installs but when I open it and double tap outside of the button it tells me no configs and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I have unzipped the config file but after that when I try to move it the instructions are not matching what I'm seeing.

I'd start fresh and uninstall Gcam and delete the config files. Once you download the Gcam apk and install, do not open up Gcam application. Then you unzip the Gcam file which has the config files. You then need to move that unzipped folder (I believe it will be called Gcam) from your "downloads folder" to your main internal storage directory. The exact instructions from Reddit [Open My Files, find the Gcam.zip (probably under Internal Storage/Downloads/) then tap the GCam.zip, click Extract, then press Back, and you should see a GCam folder. Long press that, select Move, go back to Internal Storage, click Move Here]

Once you've moved the folder to your main internal storage directory, you can then open up Gcam and double tap around the black space of the shutter button. A pop up menu will appear to choose the config file and make sure you select S10csMar2.xml and click restore.

If that doesn't work not sure what else to say as it worked perfectly for me. Hope this helps

The problem is you need to make sure the file in internal storage looks like this: GCam/Configs/...xml. I had to create a GCam folder and then move the configs folder into that one in order for it work flawlessly. Cause when you first extract it there is no GCam root folder in internal storage. At least there wasn't for me. So once I created that everything else worked flawlessly

I had to do this too. The gcam/configs folder wasn't present so I had to create one manually.
I used the redit link and instructions that djlee posted and I now have the wide angle option. Make sure you choose the s10csMar2.xml file as that wasn't the default file that popped up.

Ok, followed I instructions to the letter I cluding creating a gcam folder with a config so folder. Made sure it had the oil files in there. Started up camera app and clicked outside of shutter button and it still tells me no config files.i have no clue where to go from here.

Edit: ok, got it. I finally found that I had this: gcam/gcam/config. When i moved the config file to the root gcam folder and deleted the extra gcam folder it all started working.

Thanks for the help and patience!

Does anyone get any weird purple or pink type of banding in some photos?
When I tried this on my S9+ last year it happened.

I don't suppose there's a way to have Night Sight be the default shooting mode when opening up Gcam is there? That's all I really want to use it for.

I'm assuming this is meant to work with the S10 models only, and not an s9? I tried this on my s9+ (my s10 just shipped, arrives Friday) and it didn't work. Camera app just kept closing even after I followed all these steps and rebooted the phone.

If the answer is that it is meant for s10 only, I will definitely try it this weekend. Thanks for the links and instructions!

I actually just found the redit post I used for the Note 9. All the manual steps and settings are listed here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNote...agon/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Thank you for the link! I installed it, followed all of the instructions on the Reddit page, and it actually works!

Not sure how much of a difference it will make, as you'll see in the 2 pics I took below, one with stock Galaxy camera on my s9+ and then one with this Gcam port. The one where there was some light, there didn't seem to be much of a difference. The one with almost no light it definitely made a difference, but the resulting picture was very grainy and blotchy. Extreme use case I know, so I'd have to try it in more of a real scenario, like taking pictures of lit buildings at night.

Anyway, I probably won't do much more with this particular install since my s10 is arriving Friday, so this s9+ will be getting wiped by this weekend for sending back for the credit. But a big, huge thank you to the folks that provided working links and instructions in this thread. This website generally has the most helpful people in the forums and it keeps me coming back on a regular basis.
