Google Chrome and Bookmarks on the Nexus 7 (2013)

Can someone please explain to me Google's thinking in not allowing users to edit bookmarks on a Nexus 7? Why do I need to go onto my computer just to organize my mobile bookmarks? The Nexus is my first Android tablet and coming from Apple products I love almost everything about Android so far except this clumsy process. On an iPad I could easily reorder and delete bookmarks without having to jump through any hoops. I am happy Google has at least changed the display of bookmarks on the Nexus to a list rather than the icon format so maybe they are slowly changing the whole way bookmarks are handled.

One of the advantages of Samsung. You can do whatever you want with your bookmarks on a Samsung device. I am not saying that Samsung is better with everything as they are not, but Samsung browser in my opinion is pretty good. I prefer it over chrome.

Welcome to Android Central! When using Chrome on my Nexus 5 (which I currently have in front of me--presumably the same for my Nexus 7), if I'm in the Desktop Bookmarks, I can edit, delete, or move Bookmarks by long-pressing them. Have you tried that, or does that not do what you're looking for?

Maybe I am missing it but while I can rename and delete bookmarks I cannot seem to reorder them?

You're right, that feature isn't possible on mobile Chrome.

Chrome seems to be lacking in features when compared to other mobile browsers.

Agreed. My question is why? Certainly not a technology issue. It is one of choice. Google seems to want you to have to use the desktop version as well.

It's annoying. I've resorted to reordering bookmarks in the native browser on my Galaxy SIII, seeing that I use my Gmail account for my bookmarks anyway.

Just so I understand then--other Android devices can reorder bookmarks? Just not the nexus 7 and some other devices?

Other browsers can reorder bookmarks. paridge was talking about the native or stock browser on the S3, not Chrome.

That makes sense. Unfortunate because I do like the chrome browser.
