Google Chromecast - Note 3 Disconnecting

Let me start with saying that on my Nexus 4 I never had any problems with chrome cast. So I got my AT&T Note 3 when it came out. I've used YouTube on it with chromecast and had no problems. Well the other day I was streaming music via chromecast and got an error a few times saying it the music was unavailable but I shrugged it off and just skipped to the next track. Well today I tried streaming again and it makes it through one or two songs and stops and shows the Google play music headphones icon thingy on the TV screen. When I pick up the phone I have to reconnect it to chromecast no error or anything. So I thought what the hell I'll just reset the chromecast and see what happens. Well when I went to do the setup it would show the chromecast in the app but I couldn't connect to it at all to do the setup it would timeout and say make sure the device is near by. I grabbed my GF's atrix hd and set up when flawless. Tried music again on my note and same problem. It just disconnects. Got the atrix hd again and I've made it through 4 songs so far with no issue.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Edit: if I keep the screen on the Note unlocked it's fine. As soon as it's asleep and a song ends it stops

For what it's worth, same thing is happening to me with HTC One X. I believe this has started happening since the most recent update to google play music.

My Nexus 7 (2013) seems to be working fine tho.

This is most likely Google's fault.

Interesting enough I've also noticed that YouTube disconnects the first time I connect to pay a video as well and I have to re connect it

It's your music pinned in the One X? I've read pinning causes the same issue.

There are a number of posts about this. If you unpin the music, you may get better results.

That's a terrible work around though as I use my phone for music daily. Hopefully it's something Google can easily fix

I'm having the same issue with my LG G2. Works fine if the screen is on but when I leave the device alone it will play a song or two, stop playing and disconnect. I actually returned my first G2 thinking it might be a lemon. My new one is having the same issue. Has nothing to do with pinned/unpinned music. Works fine with Note 8.0 and Moto X. Seems like the manufacturers need to send out a software patch.

Yea, I now actually blame both Google and manufacturers for this one. They better figure this **** out together soon...How can they not communicate and not have it figured out by now is beyond me. I mean, these are some of the most popular phones out there that are not working properly...LG G2, Note 3, HTC One, and who knows how many more. It's somewhat embarrassing.

Works fine on my Nexus 4/Nexus 7 2013 and my buddies GS4.

Oddly, my buddies wife's Galaxy Nexus is doing the same thing as described up thread.

I wonder if it is an Android 4.2/4.1 thing?

The Note 3 is 4.3 though and it worked fine on my N4 when I had it (granted that was 2 weeks ago) and works fine on w/e the atrix hd is on.

I tried to configure my CC today with my Note 3. It would never connect to do the setup. Had to borrow my GF's S3 to do the setup.

That's great. I plan on exchanging my Note 3 for a new one because of this, but I don't expect to get different results. I figure it's worth a shot.

Also, pinning may not be the issue with all phones, but it is with some. I was having the same disconnect problem with my Note 2 until I unpinned the music. My Note 2 has worked fine since. But my Note 3 doesn't work, pinned or unpinned.

Glad to know that it's not just me, I thought it was an issue because in had multiple chromecast in the house, but seeing as you all are having the same symptoms, it might be a more wide spread issue

Same issue on GS4 for YouTube - fine if screen stays on and in-app, but otherwise disconnects from chromecast, and I have to reboot the TV/chromecast and the phone app to reconnect. Annoying!

I returned my Note 3 for a replacement. As expected, the new Note 3 is doing the same thing - disconnects from Chromecast when playing Google Music with the screen off. It's definitely a widespread software issue.

Well. I thought I knew all of the Android terminology but as my wife would say " I am wrong"
What does pinned mean? Does it mean using a widget?
