Google Data Collection

This was started in another thread but it got shut down fast because the name calling started fast and furious. It was unfortunate because I was curious to see what the responses would be. So I'll try again.
One thing that dissuades me from using Android is because it is Google. To me Google = data collection. If you use FREE Google services, you will PAY with your privacy. The ONLY reason Android is FREE and open source, is so that it can populate itself through the masses and collect endless quantities of user data beyond anyone's dreams. So the question in the other thread was, how do I stop Google from collecting my data? The answer was basically to not use Google apps - like search etc. But correct me if I'm wrong (I'd like to know this, so this is why I'm asking), do ALL Android phones send user data to Google in some shape or form? Can you ever escape the prying eyes of the big Google brother?

Gosh. Can't imagine what would have prompted name calling. I don't know that you have to be as worried about Google as all the free apps. Most of them now are nothing more than data miners. You can avoid it to some degree by reading permissions but it's hard to escape.

Don't sign into your Google account on an Android phone.

That's a bit impossible since you have to have a Google Account to set up your phone.

I wonder what information specifically you're concerned about? There are workarounds for a lot of things, but not all.

I don't think google collects any more data than Microsoft, facebook, etc.
My guess would be you most likely use both of those and perhaps more.
The only way to stay off the grid. Don't use the internet, email, pay bills online, and always wear a tin-foil hat, even in bed.

Android is developed by Google and the OS is designed in such a way that it is almost impossible to use it not having a google account. All "things" are available only if your are signed in.

The OP only asked how to do it. Not if it could be done.
