Just moved to the S20 FE (Android 10) from an HTC U11 (Android 9). I've noticed that although I set Firefox as the default browser on both phones, on the U11, if I click an article in Google Discover, it opens the article within Discover (or I guess Chrome?). On the FE, doing the same thing makes the article open in Firefox.

I've gotten used to the behavior on the U11, so I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this, and knows why this is happening.

In the Google app, there is a setting under General for opening web pages in the app (or if untoggled in your defualt browser). It seems your U11 has this set to on, and the FE is set to off.

On your FE, go to the Google app in your app drawer > Hit More (...) selection on the bottom right > Settings > General > Scroll to "oepn web pages in the app"and toggle it on.

That should open web pages in Discover as you're used to.

Holy Cow! I never knew that setting existed. I always wanted my Google Search articles to open in my default browser, I just assumed Google strong armed it into Chrome. I just turned off the toggle and now it opens in my default browser -- in this case Samsung Browser. Oh, and I have the Galaxy S8. Thinking about upgrading, so I have been checking out this forum...

It's a setting in other apps that open links, too. The Twitter app, for example.

That's great, thanks! I actually saw that option, and tried toggling it both ways. I'm not sure why it didn't work at first, but it does what's expected now.
