As above, you can make files available offline. However there is no way to export them to your phone so other apps can access them.

I think this is true.

Therefore, for items such as spreadsheets, pdf files, presentations and Word documents, install an office document app like the free Kingsoft Office, that gives you access to Google Drive and other cloud storage services. You can then download your document for editing or viewing with that office suite or any compatible app.

For other non-document files (or document files, for that matter), install a file explorer app, like the free ES File Explorer, that gives you access to Google Drive and other cloud storage services. You can then download whatever files you please and save them to the folder of your choice.

Yep. When you 'pin' files in the Google Drive app, it caches a local copy of the file you specified. Using a file explorer, you can copy that file to a separate folder and go from there.

Where do you find the cache file? Directory name? Couldn't find anything using ES explorer.

I also read a post above that seemed to indicate ES Explorer could access google drive and get a filecan someone tell me how to do that with ES File explorer? I have had no luck accessing my epubs. Cool Reader does not seem to be able to open them.

After you open ES Explorer, you will probably see "Local" on the top left. Press it then choose Net. Then click menu (overflow menu, three dots), then new. From there you can connect to Google Drive (or gdrive as ES Explorer calls it).

Thanks that works great. I wish there was good faq somewhere on how to get all the use out of ES file Explorer. it seems to do so much more than I currently am aware of.

To add to the above I found that you need to long press then use copy to in order to put a copy of the epub into a folder on the N7.

Notice that was set in mine and I didn't set it to encrypt so it must be the default.

Wonder if it is needed or is it better to uncheck it?

yup, its checked by default. unchecking depends on how secure you want your file to be on android device.
if none are important files then uncheck. I prefer it to be checked.
