Google Edition camera app w/ Photosphere - easy install, no root needed

Ok just used titanium backup to uninstall stock gallery apk on my sprint sgs3 running cm 10.1 and then this installed just fine still testing though.

Pardon the ignorance here, but does this new camera apk add the option to use volume as shutter on all phones, even phones that didn't have this option stock? Would love to do this w/ my One.

yes it does. well it did on my galaxy tab 8.9

worked on my stock 4.2.2 nexus 4 (had problems with video, but a quick data clear fixed that). the only problem/bug I've found is that when viewing the gallery from the camera app (swipe from the left) the menu button (three dots) is missing when viewed in landscape. it is present in portrait though. i assume it has something to do with coming from the GE S4. when opening from the gallery shortcut it appears just fine.

also installed on my galaxy tab 8.9 LTE running 4.0.4. photosphere is buggy, the dot keeps running away. video does not work at all. when taking pictures it sometimes gives them a green coloring. but the volume shutter button works.

IT DID! :D

Decided to give it a shot, and it did add the ability to use the volume key for the shutter on the One, which was probably the only feature I missed from my Evo LTE (having physical button for shutter). Photosphere is pretty cool too.

Two observations I have:
  • Where did the zoom options go? So far, I'm not seeing a way to zoom in/out when taking a photo with the new app.
  • When you swipe the upper right corner to see photos, it only displays the ones taken with the new app, rather than the whole gallery like the stock camera app. Am I missing a setting somewhere to see all photos in this view?

to zoom it's two finger spread. the swipe to view photos always only showed the camera roll (at least the stock android camera always did)

As I mentioned yesterday, i was able to get this working - sans Photosphere - on my Bionic. I've seen explanations as to why Photosphere doesn't work on other devices, mainly the lack of a gyroscope. However, the Bionic does have a gyro.

Also, is the general thinking that Google will eventually release this in the Play Store a la Keyboard?

This worked for me as well! I kept getting "Application not installed.", uninstalled current Gallery, and now running photosphere version.

For fun, I tested this on an older Nexus S running CM 10.1, but I get the 'not installed' error.

Uninstalled the original gallery, but still get the same error. :'(

No problem installing it on my stock Evo LTE but PhotoSphere didn't work. :-( PhotoSphere opens but the screen doesn't move to align with the blue dot.

I download and try to install and no luck. Stuck on this screen every time. I have the box checked allowing outside files.
