Google Home devices bricked by update. No solution yet.

My Google Home (early gen) has been bricked by an update. This seems to be a problem for many, from last week. It is frozen at 4 dots on the display, and no attempts to revive are helping. One user said Google told him the device is no longer supported. Whether this is true or not, people are upset. There was no warning and the device they owned was only rendered inoperative after the update

Mine was bricked, too. Google home speaker, 1st gen. Last known device info: System firmware version: 375114, Cast firmware: 2.57.375114. 10x reset routine had no effect.
