Google Launcher Asserts itself Over Nova Launcher

This has happened a few isolated cases in the past but now with the lastest November Android 10 update, it's happening several times a day.

I've run Nova Prime Launcher for several years now on a couple of phones including my current Pixel 2XL. Lately, I'll be exiting an app using the back arrow and the Google Launcher will take over my home screen. If I tap the home button the Nova Launcher will be restored.

Or, if I have several apps open and do a small swipe up on the home button so I can swipe left or right to access another open app, the Google Launcher takes over my home screen.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Have you tried going into settings and choose default home Nova ?

I've had that happen a few times lately. If I just close apps & turn the phone off (not power down), all is good after that. I run Smart Launcher, BTW.

It's already set that way. I suppose I can turn it off and turn it on again.
Oh ok, mine was different experience kept asking choose default home and wouldn't stay until I did what I recommended to you because none was chosen there .

In the Settings > Apps > Advanced > Default Apps > Home App I turned Nova off and turned it back on again and I haven't had the problem occur since (2 days ago.)

Is Battery Optimization turned on for Nova? If so, try turning it off (if the problem persists).

I have Microsoft Launcher on my P2, and since Android 10 the Pixel Launcher keeps popping up on my Home screen when I hit the back button after a text message (mostly). It's kind of annoying, but I just hit the home button and all returns to normal. However, when I swipe up on the home button to see previously opened apps, nothing happens in Microsoft Launcher, but it works in Pixel Launcher. I hope it gets fixed soon!

Google Launcher taking over for Nova Prime happened again after the most recent update. I had to go into settings and select Nova Prime as my default launcher.

So apparently for the past couple of months Google tries to set your launcher to Google Launcher after every monthly update.

After the last update, Google Launcher popped up for a second, then my Smart Launcher took over. I guess it's "smarter" than Google, LOL.

Go into
apps settings > advanced > default apps > home page apps

and check the status of your launcher. I bet your Smart Launcher is no longer selected.

Hey thanks!! Nothing was selected on my phone, so I reselected Microsoft Launcher ... it will be nice not to have that little annoyance any more!

This afternoon when I backed out of my texting app the Pixel Launcher presented the Pixel Home page again. I couldn't remember how to check which Launcher was selected, so I came back here for instructions! Sure enough, my preference had been deselected ... so I selected it again. I checked Launcher settings, and Microsoft Launcher was set as my preferred Launcher. Does anyone know why this would happen?

I've had that happen between pixel launcher and Nova and when screen prompt to select a launcher I choose Nova always and it went back to pixel in short time , had to go in settings default apps and choose the launcher there as none were highlighted

I have never gotten a screen prompt to select a Launcher ... it just switches to the Pixel Launcher, I hit the Home button, and Microsoft Launcher comes back. I've selected my Launcher twice now, following the instructions to go to app settings. I just wonder why my choice gets deselected. (There probably really IS a Pixie in the Pixel!!)

Lol. .. probably little glitch but I've noticed it also

I think it might be a hiccup with Google New gestures it works but probably glitch like this because they haven't full fixed it with 3rd party launchers.
