Hi people and the great moderator team here. This is a question that might not have an solution to..

I drive a 2025 Nissan Altima and it's fully compatible with my Galaxy S25+ . I have a USB dongle and a physical USB cable. I kind use the cable because, plugging in the cable also means you are charging, vs just the wireless sound.

Anyways, is there a way to change that voice that reads me the streets and names and all? At least to a male one?? Thanx people

I'm with ya on this one. You used to be able to do this by changing the voice of Google Assistant, but when things started shifting towards Gemini, that changed and you can no longer 'match' the maps voice to Gemini. I hope this comes back, but right now, there's no way to change it.

I have only one [language redacted by Mod] to talk to me. I want a guy and to tell me street names and all..
:)

For me it's more about the pitch of the voice. Someone mentioned another reason in another forum: people with hearing loss on the higher frequency tend to struggle with the female voice giving you directions.

But, right now it's this default female voice. Can't change to at least a man's voice.. 😢 Thanks for your time

Does the car have Android Auto, or does it have its own nav system?
LoL Nahhh! I just imagine sheet to happen.. hahaha 😆
My phone is connected with a cable plugged in the car, everything works just perfect!!

I have 0 issues with anything. My music plays. It speaks in this ugly generic female voice whenever Maps are on..

How do I change that annoying generic voice?! I think this is not available yet. But But But I %100 had a different voice before (some African-American woman..)..

If you want custom voices, at the moment, your only option is to use a 3rd party app that supports it, like Waze. Until Maps goes back to matching Assistant/Gemini voices, we're stuck with that option.

Thank you for answer. Is there a way to make Waze fully automatic? Say, when I plug that cable in my screen devides in two smaller windows.. Google Maps and my default music player (my iHeartRadio is..so that turns on right away also)

Besides "Google Maps" on my screen.

I would rather pay money for development of a new voice than to go to this "waze"..

My phone has Google Maps, meaning my Timeline and the rest is synchronized. Would this Waze be connected anyhow to my Google account?
So I need to stick with GMaps.. Where do I apply for a new voice? Hahaha 😆

Yeah, if you set Waze as your default for Maps, that's what should pop up when you connect Android Auto. While it's owned by Google, Waze and Maps still do not 'interconnect'.
Let me try to see what this Waze is all about..

See GMAPS, I'm able to go online and study my trips and all. Timeline..

IOW, there is no option .;)
Or we can all start a petition of some sort.

Where is the best to post feedbacks and reviews of this, so that Google looks at them? I bet if we all team up, we can make Google Maps to at least support that "Whitney" to speak street names and all. Oh boy. Thank you for your help.

Is there a way to integrate this Waze just like GMAPS to talk to me and be on my screen by default?

Reminds me of when I first started using sat-nav on my motorbike back in 2004/5 with the audio feed to an earpiece in my helmet (actually a small speaker embedded in the foam lining of the helmet pressed lightly against the bone behind my ear). Got annoyed with the lady telling me to take a different route to the one I preferred and more and more urgently telling me to do a U-turn so I called her Mona! :D

To this day I do not use voice directions any more.
