AC Question

This is a problem similar to that discussed on another part of the forum that seems as if it's unresolved: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/360309-google-maps-navigation-always-starts-me-off-same-wrong-location.html

In a nutshell, the app recognizes the current location (blue dot) but My Location (starting point of trip, or "Point A") shows as elsewhere. The blue dot remains where I actually am; there is a disconnect between my actual, recognized location and "Point A."

In my case, it first showed "Point A" as my "work" location every time, no matter where I actually was. When I deleted my "work" address as part of troubleshooting, "Point A" became another location where I'd never been. (This may have been coincidental?)

Have been 'round and 'round with VZ tech (tier 2), and short of a factory reset, have found no solution. Wondering if anyone else out there has figured this out? Incidentally, this started a few days after a VZ system software update to G900VVRS2DQD1 applied on May 6, 2017, and the delay seems to suggest it's NOT related to the update (I use Maps for GPS several times daily).

What we've done includes:
* uninstall and disable Maps & power cycle
* reactivate and update Maps
* reset network settings (caused more issues, unrelated to this)
* recovering available space on system storage (was below 10%)
* turn location services off and on

I called the change of Point A "coincidental" based on this oddity: the first one was my "work" address, where I often am; the second was somewhere I'd never been and, it turned out, just a mile from the home of an acquaintance who is often at my work address, but I've never been to his house. It is an hour's drive away and out in the country. The particular location of the new Point A seemed to be in the middle of a field.

Strangely, I reset my Google password and, since doing so, the problem seems to be resolved. My friend is not particularly tech savvy, so I don't think he hacked into my account, and I don't even know that he was anywhere near either location (he travels frequently for extended periods).

Any thought appreciated. I'll see how this "fix" ends up working out and report back if I continue to have this issue, or if it appears to have been resolved by it. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Welcome to the forums. I don't really have an explaination, but perhaps the password reset forced a refresh to Maps servers?

I have the same problem, funny "fix": if you log out of Google maps and use it without a connected account, it works for me. But as soon as I log in, it uses some bogus start point that never changes while the blue Dot moves exactly were if should be. (So no problem with the GPS)

Same problem for almost a year. I have found thread after thread on the Google 'help' forums with people with the same problem -- but NO SOLUTIONS that work

I have set and reset my home location in the 'full' version (desktop); I have told it to always start from 'home' (which shows the correct address). But every time I start a new search, bloody stinking Google Maps resets the directions to start from a location I searched on around a year ago.

It is utterly, completely frustrating.

I cannot understand why a seemingly smart company like Google cannot fix this problem.

But then they can't even be bothered to supply meaningful help or other information that works, can they? Their 'help' forums are an insult to users.
