Google Maps reporting incorrect location?

This afternoon while driving, my google maps said my current location was about 600 miles from where I was? (Blue dot and everything) After a bout 5 minutes it returned me back to my actual location. Is google having problems today?

what version of maps are you running? what's the weather like outside?

sometimes it'll go wonky because it loses the GPS lock due to atmospheric conditions, and then if the tower triangulation is weak, the location can go crazy.

GPS on? Just cuz you have a blue dot doesn't mean it is....

I had a blue dot location earlier today, placing me about 1 mile away from my actual location. Then I looked and my GPS wasn't turn on..
