Google messages app question.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but photomoji works by long-pressing on the message you want to reply to, which opens up a row of emojis above that message. Scroll over to the right in that row and there's a light blue "Create" button, which is how you create a photomoji.

That's how Google themselves describe it, but it's absent on both my phones.

@winmod21: Well, that's the one possible silver lining. I know you previously reported using S23, but at least it's not limited to A14.

It worked exactly as I described on my previous Pixel 7 Pro, the OnePlus 12 that I had for a week and returned, and now the S24U.

I can check. But, I'm not sure if it would be a good example. I have an unlocked S24 Ultra on Verizon, but I am in the Google Messages beta program.

We're on Xfinity. I've presumed that our S23U & S23+ are locked. On AT&T we were unlocked.
I don't recall how to tell if you're locked or unlocked in Settings > About Phone; if you can?

Yes, forgot to mention I'm in the beta program but even then I didn't get the option for some time after a buddy of mine also on beta. I don't think there's much rhyme or reason to how they update. I would frequently clear cache hoping that would prompt the update but I don't think it had any impact on when it finally showed

This is what my Google Messages looks like. It's been like that for a while for me. But, like I said, I am in the Google Messages beta program.

Version: messages.android_20240228_00_RC00.phone_samsung_openbeta_dynamic

Google messages is agnostic. I don't think it cares if you're unlocked or locked. When I had my S22 Ultra (U model), I'm pretty sure I had the same functionality as I do now. Google Messages has been updated at least once since I had my S24 Ultra and @mustang7757's version is not far behind mine. But again, I'm in the beta sooo....

Ahh that's why, no beta for me on apps I like them as stable as possible.
