Google Music is Live!

I just got my invite a few days ago... still have not completely loaded my library but I really like it so far.

the free songs added are a + in my book.

no problems so far on my stock TBolt.

Music Beta

Anyone having a hard time getting all there itunes music to download to Music Beta? I have 490 songs in my itunes list but Music Beta will only transfer 181 songs in to the library what do I need to do. I tried again but now it's transfering 197 songs but I don't know if it is the same 181 songs plus a few extras.

Maybe it has to do with songs being DRM?

Anybody having issues with the phone app? On my Droid Incredible, it consistently uses up about 75% of CPU cycles and absolutely destroys the battery.

Uploading takes FOREVER. Its crazy. If Apple's setup is rumored to be true (where they scan your library and then use local, apple-stored copies instead of uploading them) then Google's service is going to look antiquated.

That being said, its still totally bad-ass to not have a single song on my phone and still have access to 1,000 songs.

Hoping I get my invite pretty soon. I've been pretty happy with the Amazon Cloud Player. I keep a couple hundred songs stored locally since I travel with spotty reception often. But it is incredibly nice not having to store 20+ gigs on my phone itself. Looking forward to testing this out with Google's service and hopefully they will make it better and better.

I absolutely agree with that Droid800 said about iTunes using their local copy and not having to upload. That will definitely be a killer feature and save a lot of time and hassle. Pretty easy for them to do I'd imagine since they have all the major studios on board with their store.

Got my invite a few days ago. Put in request a few hours after site was up.

So far so good. Cant complain for beta and this being its first release. I would really like to see smart playlists and google use the universal rating system for songs.

Working great for me so far. Only complaint for me like others is the upload time. Wonder if Google will eventually integrate podcasts into Google Music (aka Google Listen).

So far, much to my surprise, streaming over 3G is a bit more stable with Google Music than with Amazon MP3.

got my invite wed 25th. finished uploading 11.5k 73 gb on sat 28th.

so far the app works pretty well. only thing i'm not a huge fan of is that i used to open old music app at artists then find song then hit play. when i do this on this app with music in cloud there is about a minute lag and an error message: failed to play... i'm pretty sure this is because the app is building buffer for the next few songs in the album as well as the current song but it is still frustrating.

overall though i really really love the ability to listen to my whole library on my phone that only has an 8 gb memory card.

i hope like others have that they integrate podcasts a little differently. right now they just show up as part of the library

I'm using both Google Music and Amazon MP3 to find out which I like better. Amazon seems to offer a slightly better feature set so far and slightly easier navigation, including the lock screen controls which is big in my book. Their shuffle is terrible though, the order is always the same, so if you close the app and go back in you start at the same song every time, and since they are in the same order, you have to either select the next song you haven't heard or keep skipping to the next song.

Google Music is Beta still, so I'm hoping they catch up on features, especially the lock screen controls. Beyond features though, Google Music has been more stable in streaming over 3G. I get less "stops and skips" to the next song. It seems to take longer to upload music than it does with Amazon, but after the initial upload who really cares.

We'll see...

Google Music wins hands down for me.

It is much more stable over 3G, didn't mislabel a lot of my music, & offers much more storage space.

Uploading took longer, but like stated above, now that it's done it's a non-issue. I'm sure Google will add features along the way, like lockscreen controls, but my current work-around has been to place the app's widget on Widgetlocker to get the same effect.

Just got the beta started this morning. just deleted all the music off my phone. I prefer itunes interface to the webapp but i like the phone app.

now lets see what apple does monday.

Have to update this after upgrading to 2.3.3 today on my evo.

now the app works like a dream, even with notifications popping up and multitasking, streaming over 3g. i never thought i was a victim of the streaming bug, but i guess i was.

i love this app and the beta so far
