What does force closing do? Did I do something wrong? I didn't do any syestem apps.

If you force close apps, oftentimes they'll automatically reopen, and all you'll do is expend extra battery closing and opening the apps again in a repeated cycle. Android likes to keep RAM relatively full of apps, to allow for quicker opening and switching. Yeah, you're better off, if you're rooted, to run greenify to have it park apps in the background you don't think need to be running in the background (Many games for example). Honestly, with 3.5 hours of screen time and heavy chrome use, your battery usage case sounds fine.

Yes horrible battery life. Uninstalling apps and not using the phone as much while might be solutions to fix this problem but defeats the purpose of owning a smartphone as powerful as this. I have started looking for alternatives(other phones) already

Me to! I love the Nexus 5 but the battery life is killing me. I avoid games on my down time just because I know the battery gets owned. I have a couple friends with the Galaxy S5 and they have proceed to me that there battery is incredible on it. Even with touch wiz. I'm so in love with the Google now launcher that it's almost pulling me back to the Nexus. However, there's this issue with the screen. In the light you can see through the panel. It shows lines, ever since I noticed this I cannot unsee this!!! Boo!!! So I'm kind of looking forward to the S5

Must the brightness be up really high to notice the panel transparency? I've yet to notice it.

I have both the Nexus 5 and GS5 and will say that while I didn't have horrible battery life on my N5, the GS5 is far better.

Other areas of the device are a different story though.

Can't confirm that - I had the M8 and the S5 before I went back to the N5, neither of them have great battery life. They'll all last for a day. Performance-wise, the N5 still runs circles around both the M8 and the S5, so for me it was a no-brainer to return to my workhorse N5.

Mine last for 16 hr screen on time 4.5 hr it sucks

Screen on time is what kills the battery the most. Standby is great.
