Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Re: Availability delayed at least 30 days, probably more?

Speaking to a VZW rep about my account, I asked the "when will you have it" question.

He said it is NOT on his "coming soon list", which shows releases coming within the next 30 days.

I may just give up and get the Droid Turbo.......

I have the turbo now and I really want the N6. I plan on returning or selling this unit when I can get the Nexus 6 in my hands.

Thanks, so I doubt the 30 day "coming soon" list that one rep mentioned...

I worked at Verizon and that coming soon list was useless. Nothing shows up on the list until its publicly announced to prevent leaks.

Tell me why. I'm torturing myself waiting for the N6 because I am pretty sure I won't like the size. I want to use it for a few days to make sure and then I'd return it if that's the case.

However, I am also interested in what I might find disappointing with the Turbo. Why are you making the change?

Dude go to a bestbuy and try out the note 4 and iPhone 6 plus. The nexus 6 is a bit taller and wider then the note 4 and trying those phones out will tell you if you will like the size of the nexus 6

Nexus 6 will work on Verizon out of box now

Was reading the review on ign which I don't tend to put much stock in their reviews in general be it video games or tech but the guy put his Verizon nano sim and worked well with it. Also gave s glowing review of it

I just did. And comparing the 6+ to the Turbo? The Turbo looked dinky, and the 6+ looked like it wasn't even that big......

Scored a pre-order from Moto's site.

Droid-Life did this weeks ago and proved it

Still pissed/shocked nothing has been announced. Thinking hard about switching to T-mobile. If we didn't get a 22% monthly discount it'd be a no-brainer.

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

Not necessarily. You could port it to Google voice and then forward inbound to your handset and to Hangouts.

Hangouts is still brand new. When traveling abroad (which is 90%+ of the time for me) Hangouts dialer is not ready for prime time over data. I consistently get better call quality if I have my Voice number reroute to Skype and I pick up the call from Skype. For sure, if traveling abroad, this is not an option.

Agreed. I also use Skype for routing my Google voice number to my handset while abroad (but this requires a paid Skype number).

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

UGGG..

So my wife and I stopped in a Verizon store tonight since we both want to jump back to VZW. I know, Big Red = evil, etc but hell the grass isn't always greener on the other side when you leave :P

Anyways, I asked 2 separate employee's about the Nexus 6. First guy said, we have "no announcements yet on when we will get it". Fair enough. Then, I asked if I bought one on Playstore/Moto site directly, can I then use it on VZW out of the box with a new nano-sim. "No, because it's not ready for Verizon's network."
Then, I asked the 2nd guy (actually the store manager) the same question. He said "No, because phones you buy from Playstore are unlocked and GSM only. That means it will only work on TMo/ATT since we're on CDMA network". WTF?!?! I wasn't going to friggin argue with him that the Nexus 6 HAS CDMA you numnut!!!

My wife wants to really signup soon, and my Google order is shipping on 11/21. I guess I could get a Moto X or something to tide me over for the next 10 or so days, but I'm just KNOWING that when I bring into the store my Nexus 6 and want to port over/get a nano-sim, they are going to push back and say I can't. I just have this feeling :(

Joe the Insider, any more insight/truth on knowing definitively, if the Nexus 6 will work right of the box on their network?

Thanks!

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

Never.................Never ask VZW store employees any TECHNICAL questions they are clueless, the phone works on their network look closely at the radio bands on the Spec page it has all the US

Re: Google Nexus 6 voice and data

sad but true. My father always tells me that I should ask them any questions I have but 99% I usually know more than them.

I know, and we all ask, but I guess you just think ONE of them MIGHT know a little something about what your asking. It's funny because the store manager even said we're getting a lot of questions/requests for the Nexus 6, but we don't know when it's coming. Fair enough, but I guess IMO, Verizon is losing out on $650-700 on all these people that will be ordering from PS/Moto or other carriers to use on Verizon. I know the timing isn't good with the Turbo release, but just seems weird to me.

Anyways, yea, just wanted to ask. I didn't say once that I already ordered it from the PS, but "what if I did" question. And as you saw, both said it won't work...uggg... But I know it "should"!!

Just because they have the radios don't mean it will work. The nexus 7 did and we seen how long that took. Verizon could simply block it for now

Verizon is not going to block it. It has been shown by more than one source to work on the Verizon network.

I know it does, and that's why I wanted to just ask some employee's last night on what they would say. And both said it won't work. Again, I know their responses to me showed they don't know ^&*# about the Nexus 6, but still I just have this eerie feeling that when I walk in the store with mine next weekend, they are going to give me some problem/hassle with asking for a nano-sim and powering it on Verizon.

But hopefully I'll be wrong! I'm going to try another store this afternoon by my house and see what their responses will be.
