Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

If everyone wants to edge up why not just get it from Google or Moto directly?

With the "new" edge program, I don't have to drop 650 on the phone at once. Bought my last 2 phones outright. I prefer that, but I also like the idea of actually lowering my monthly bill if I throw a 200 down payment on it. And I can pay my phone off early if I want. It all boils down to the fact that I'm tied to Verizon. I have 5 lines on a family plan with different rolling upgrade dates. So if I'm not going anywhere, I may as well take advantage of not dropping the full 650 all at once.

Latest word on another site is that it will sell in store on March 12th, with promotional material arriving the day before.

I'm hoping the Verizon version is released with it out of the box. I sold my N6 I bought from Motorola a month ago as I didn't trust Verizon to support a phone that wasn't bought from them.
Looks like the Verizon version will come with Advanced Calling and 5.1 out of the box. Now I want to know what bloat Verizon will add.

How and why are Nexus owners or want to be owners still on Verizon. You either live in an area that you can not get anything else and receive a signal or your just a glutton for punishment.

I don't think anyone is on Verizon who can get decent coverage from another carrier. Verizon is BY FAR the best where I live and travel, unfortunately.

Buy from Motorola with Moto Credit. You then would qualify for the rate of $15/month through VZW "bring your own phone" discount.

Best of both worlds, except for the minor bump in monthly payments because Moto Credit gives you a maximum of 18 months to pay vs Edge which spreads the payments over 24 months......

Lollipop allows the user to delete bloatware. Something about all apps being loaded into the same, accessible partition.

But everything I see says they will only offer the 32GB :(

Which is another reason why you should get it through Moto. 64GB, $25 discount per month service, and, if you need to spread the cost, 18 month financing via MotoCare.

I thought about that. Awesome idea, but my contact is up in August. Edge plan is the only way I can get that thing now. It'll also get me out of the 2 year contract cycle so that will probably be the way I'll do it in the future. But again, I want that thing now.

If your contract isn't up are you already on Edge and plan on paying off the balance of your phone to upgrade? And doesn't "Edging up" reset your contract for the 2 years?

I fear that I will still have work around every little issue like VVM and may not get Volte if it isn't bought through Verizon. Seriously considering Moto credit now though since the 64GB has been available regularly.

I had trouble with regular voicemail on mine. I wasn't getting notifications and when it occurred to me to check I had 20. Looked around and found YouMail, a free VVM app. Never used VVM before. Now I'm hooked. I wonder if my phone will connect to regular VM once it's released. But I am sticking with youmail regardless.

No. With early edge you give them your phone. I'm putting my old RAZR M back on my line for a week or 2 and giving them that and keeping my Moto X. I get $25 off of my line when I do the edge, and you finance the phone for 2 years. The only contact you have is paying for the phone at this point. You can put $ toward the phone when you sign up, or you can pay it off early after 16 months or something. If I put $200 down on the phone when I get it, my monthly bill actually decreases and when the phone is paid off, it decreases more. Like I said, I'm tied to Verizon, so I'm just taking advantage of not dropping 650 at once.

I finally had enough waiting and just ordered a 64GB in blue... It will be here on the 10th but I will wait until the launch date to activate. Hopefully, I will have less issues activating and maybe things will work like VVM.

Oh, go ahead and activate. It'll work seamlessly except maybe voicemail. Download YouMail and it won't matter. It's a free VVM app that has worked fine for me, and you can add voice to text for a monthly fee. No worries about VZW recognizing your phone, and if you don't need voice to text it's cheaper anyway.

The system doesn't work like that anymore with Edge. You must trade in the phone that was on the line when the offer was provided. Swapping out a week or 2 before will usually still result in trading in the Moto X.

That's what I've been told, I was just gonna try. Not that big of a deal anyway. I just wanted to keep it as a backup. I've got 2 others I can use as backups. I'm too excited about the N6 to wait until August just to keep my Moto X. Thanks for the clarification though.

Absolutely. I wasn't trying to be mean (if it was worded that way). I just like making sure you're walking into a Verizon store with correct info. Saves you from a headache!
