Google Nexus 6 on Verizon

Absolutely. I wasn't trying to be mean (if it was worded that way). I just like making sure you're walking into a Verizon store with correct info. Saves you from a headache!

Didn't take it to be mean at all. No problem. It is nice to hear that from a second source. I don't have to use my old phone for 2 weeks now. I was pretty much ready for that anyway. Hate to lose my Moto X, but not enough to pass on the N6.

I'd give it a try. Many people were able to activate their sim on their older phone in order to get it to work on VZW. But maybe it doesn't register it into their system as well as if they log it in directly. Call them and have them make the swap from their end, logging in your new EIN, etc. That might make it look more official when you go to do the trade-in. If they balk at that point, ask them how your request is any different than had you sold your X, returned to your old phone,

You could probably do all of this by phone (save you a trip). They can swap your SIM that way. And they can probably arrange the Edge upgrade as well, sending you the new phone in a box that you send your old one back in with, return shipping label and all.....

I might still try it. I'm not very confident about it now though. We put my sister on edge, and the Verizon associate said that it's the system that looks for the IMEI number that was on the line when the program started. He had to go into the system and check to make sure her phone would work as a trade in when he did it. I just hope they wouldn't turn you away if you had already sold your phone. Or what if it is broken? It might not matter anyway. I don't trust that it will be available until I see it in the store or on the website. I guess we'll see soon.

Have you guys had generally good or bad battery life? I can't get my phone to last more than 2.5 hours ost, before hitting the 15% warning, and I have tired and installed Franco kernel. The problem for me might be reception. Have you guys had any problems being on Verizon with reception?uploadfromtaptalk1425645937334.jpg

This is what happens. My son jumped on Edge last February with a Droid Maxx. About 2 months after buying the phone he broke the screen while wrestling with the dog. He paid for an Assurion replacement. This February when it was time to Edge Up, they said that he couldn't Edge Up because the IMEI's didn't match. I explained what happened, after a lot of hassle, they changed the IMEI to the one for his new phone and he was able to Edge Up.

I bought a Galaxy Note 4 through Verizon, hated it, sold it, used the money to buy my N6. I'm thinking that until I fully pay for the Note 4 that I won't be able to Edge Up because they will want that phone back.

RELEASE the DANG phone already BIG RED!!!! I am waiting and getting SO impatient!!! Is it still all systems go on the 12th?

Kashabrown it appears the 12th is the day. I went to activate mine today thinking they could do everything correctly since they are launching on the 12th. I was told until the official launch they couldn't just hand over a Sim for Nexus 6. I would have to do the whole workaround deal. I asked about VVM and they said Thursday on that also. So.... I can wait my phone wasn't supposed to be here until the 10th anyway. Just do it right one time.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I am always concerned about buying used phones now for fear that I could buy one on Edge/Next/Easy Pay and the previous owner would decide to stop making payments, causing the carrier to blacklist the device.

In this case, the risk seems minimal because Cincybearcatfan is honest and seems committed to stick with Big Red for the long term, but is there any way to avoid getting burned when the end user hasn't fully paid for the phone?

In the past, the carriers have always blacklisted the last active phone on the account at the time service was disconnected. If that's still the policy, the new buyer would be fine as long as they activate it on their account before the previous owners line is suspended for non payment.

That's a pretty good point. I never thought about that aspect of it. I guess that happens all the time though, outside of any early upgrade plans. I've only bought 2 used phones and that was through a dealer.

This is correct. If you no longer own the phone, you can no longer edge up

I would recommend buying from Swappa.com. The moderators on that site check the IMEI of every device sold before it can be listed. Usually if the phone was purchased on a payment plan it will let the moderators know and they won't allow it to be listed. This happened to me when I purchased a new Nexus 6 from someone on eBay that had it on a TMobile payment plan. Once I tried to list on Swappa they told me it wasn't paid for and it took me about a month to track down the eBay seller and force him to pay it off. Be very careful when buying used phones.

I also heard that Verizon is only selling the 32GB Blue version. That might be what they start with due to availability but It would not surprise me if that is the only model they release.

I want to know if it will do voice and data at the same and not just with other hd calling phones (and unlike the current Nexus 6)

It's my understanding that voice and data is part of Verizon's Advanced Calling 1.0. That is part of the 5.1 update that Google is rolling out. The phone releasing on Verizon on March 12 will probably be the day that the factory images for the 5.1 update are released for the Nexus 6. The HD Voice is also part of the update and that is supposedly cross network compatible so T-Mobile and Verizon's HD voice would be both enabled when 5.1 for the Nexus 6 hits the phones. Just a guess though.
