Re: How many got to order and which day?

I been through the n4 and n5 releases and everybody goes whacko, cursing about everything under the sun (myself included). But you know what?
The nanosecond the phone arrives, all will be good and everything will be roses.
Shoot, my ship date is on 2dec so I got a loooong time to wait dammit. 😬

Don't forget to "fastboot oem unlock" if you are so inclined. 👍

The N5 launch went a million times better than this debacle. I ordered my N5 on Halloween, it shipped the next day, and I had it in hand wed nov 6. This is nowhere near as good a experience. They should have announced the phone on the 19th and it would have shipped Thursday or Friday. Just a bad move by Google.

The N6 was rushed... It wasn't ready and they tried to make it ready... I wasn't involved with the N4 launch but last year I ordered on Halloween and mine actually shipped that same day.... I got it the following Monday November 4th because of two day shipping.... and I was shocked about all the hoopla and what not on the N4 Launch... I thought it was painless and smooth.... Heck I remember ordering the Nexus one and it went pretty smooth too... Did take more than one attempt as they were no where near ready to launch a phone back then but it was NOTHING like this launch... WOW!!!! I got mine from Motorola and they were so much better than ordering from the Play Store but even the Motorola process was painful in comparison to ordering from just about anyone else in the world...

But I do agree with Davey.. if mine shows up tomorrow I'll be a happy little customer and totally put the whole thing behind me.... Until something isn't working right.. and then I'll exercise my god given American right to complain and complain and complain....

When you say it was rushed and not ready, it made me think that this launch was eerily similar to an Apple-style launch. What I mean it... Hold conference to announce new hardware, announce absurdly early launch date, don't deliver in line with demand.

I'm not surprised or shocked by any MFG that handles business this way, just disappointed. But not enough to not try to preorder for three weeks straight. :]

Re: How many got to order and which day?

I think the mistake they did this year (not a mistake for google cos I bet they're making a ton more cash) was to release the bulk of the units to carriers.
I can't remember specifics but I thought last years release was pretty bad. I know for sure google didn't say anything publicly that would assuage our worries
as they have done this year in spades.
A simple "we're working on it" would be nice.

If you look at last year the Nexus 5 cleared the FCC on September 5... was announced and went on sale October 31 started shipping that night.... The Nexus 6 was announced on October 15... Didn't clear the FCC until October 24 and went on preorder October 29 and just now starting to ship 11/13 and appears to just be a very small trickle of a release so far....

I can't imagine Google or Motorola would put into production a large order of phones until it had cleared the FCC... If the FCC had rejected something or sent them back to the drawing board on something and they had 5 million units ready to ship they would have been screwed.... I think Lollipop was way behind schedule and they pushed it back as much as they could and just stayed with the release schedule compared to last year and it caused a major cluster and back order... I don't even think the carriers have that many... T-Mobile already said they pushed it back because their orders directly from Motorola didn't ship on time....

Motorola usually ships from a warehouse in Texas and they are drop shipping directly from the factory in China.... It would be way cheaper to ship cases and cases to Texas economy than individual phones International Priority..... They got behind and tried to rush it....... I think they are sending phones out as soon as they can make them....

Re: How many got to order and which day?

Geez Rob, you got one hell of a memory.
I can't remember what I ate for lunch yesterday, well maybe barely....the day before? Forget it.

I remember my shipment of the Nexus 5... but I had to "GOOGLE" the FCC filing dates for the N5..... it was almost two months before release... This years information I just remember because it was like 3 weeks ago......

This launch was def rushed. I remember finding N5 FCC filing crazy early. This year not so much. Well I'm hoping my phone ships tomorrow.

They do have a flight a couple of times per week to Anchorage... My guess is they have a heavy load day and one plane needs to stop there for refueling (the one going to Memphis is a 777 long range cargo plane so it can make it without stopping) or there is something they have a contract to dump in Alaska before continuing on to Memphis.... I am actually amazed with all the stuff that comes out of China they only have the one nightly flight directly to Memphis..... then again most of that cheap stuff goes cargo ship and takes weeks to cross the ocean.....

Looks like our flight is over half way home to Memphis. I hope everybody else's phone is on it too. I am hoping for tomorrow but counting on Thursday. And I hope they have a huge pee jar onboard, that looks like a long non-stop flight...heh

15 hours! Probably three fight crews....

If you track it they've been moving! Estimate they hit Memphis around 9:30 pm central...

LOL I have been tracking it since last night. Yes I am a goob. And it is moving. I am hoping that if it gets in before 10 with a quick turn around.

I'm going to check it tonight about ten! For some reason the delivery manager won't let me flag it hold for pick up! Wondering if it has to scan into Memphis first? I know you need to do it before it arrives in your city or it'll go out on the truck! Then I'm waiting around half the morning...

I keep checking my tracking status, but all that's ever on there is the "origin scan" from about five hours ago, heh... Still hoping I might luck out and get it tomorrow. There's currently no "estimated arrival date" on my status at all.

At least you got that far. I have nothing but a pending order! Damn why didn't I go for 3-5 day shipping lol

Yours hasn't departed yet? My last activity reads 4:33 PM departure scan. I keep refreshing every few hours in hope of an estimated arrival!
UPS 2nd day air

I dunno, I've always felt like UPS tracking isn't quite "real time". There have been plenty of times where I obsessively checked the tracking info for a package I was waiting for, and there were no updates, and then later on, a whole bunch of tracking info would pop up. Hopefully my order has moved at least somewhere since this afternoon and the tracking just hasn't updated yet.
