Google Nexus 6P USB-C Charging

Re: USB-C Charging

I think you are correct with the assumption about the battery longevity. The battery was built to handle quick charge, so it should not be negatively effected by the fast power. In regards to the heat, the amount of heat generated by the sun, running apps, and quick charging is still not enough heat to actually damage a device, I'm almost positive.

I wasn't saying that heat would damage the device, per se, merely that if you are frequently using a fast charger in the car, while using navigation and in direct sunlight, you could generate enough heat to lower the capacity on the battery, though it would likely take a few months to notice. Ideally, the temperature of the phone should stay below 100 degrees F.

Anker 2. Gen.*Astro E4 13000mAh External Battery with Power IQ and the Anker 24W Dual-Port Rapid USB Car charger will rapid charge your 6P when using OPO USB type C cable :)

Re: USB-C Charging

Has anyone found a short cable? Like 3”? If like to have one for my external chargers.

Re: USB-C Charging

I'm waiting a bit to get a new cable so I can get a 10ft USB C cable that I know won't break my phone or set my house on fire. I suddenly understand how iPhone users felt from the transition to the new lightning cable we me having all these micro usbs laying around. I got my Nexus 6P the other day and that night before bed, I charged it(quick charge for the win) and then moving it next to my bed and relying on Dose to save my battery for the next day I still had 98% which impressed the hell out of me. I kept my old phone next to my bed too just in case my alarm didn't go off out of paranoia.

I bought this cable, it's 9.9 feet and it seems to quick charge my phone. I am a bit lost in this long, technical thread so I can't promise it won't set your house on fire. :) Hopefully there is nothing wrong with it. If anyone thinks this is a bad idea, please let me know.

Re: USB-C Charging

The OnePlus cables don't conform properly to specifications and 'could' cause issues in some certain circumstances.

The 3.0ft Monoprice cable checks out. That's the route I was going to go but the Google cables became available first (Google and Monoprice cables are rumored to be one and the same).

USB-C Compliant Cables
I received two OnePlus cables yesterday and love them...until I read this. I've emailed them asking for a refund or a replacement when they do conform to standards.

Did you hear back from OPO yet?

Re: USB-C Charging

Did you hear back from OPO yet?
Yes, but just tentatively. The response was, "We are very sorry for the inconvenience and for the delay of response due to the influx of tickets that we are receiving. May I know if you are experiencing issues by yourself with the cables?" I responded that I was too concerned to even try to use it.

I use the OP cables on my 5X and 6P. I haven't experienced any problems.

I have noticed that the phone heats up when using the LG factory fast charger.

Re: USB-C Charging

I tried the iKNOWTECH cable (which is approved by Benson Leung),
but it doesn't work. I left it on the charger for 15 minutes, and it increased 1%. The
Ampere app shows it at a couple hundred mA.

In order to get the phone charged here at work, I plugged the original Samsung
cable back into the charger, used a CableCreation micro to typeC adapter on
it (not approved/certified). It is charging rapidly.

Can anyone confirm whether Type C to Type C cables/adapters have the resistor issue?
Benson Leung's information shows "TBD" regarding some C to C cables.

OnePlus' latest response about their cables was, "Thanks for keeping in touch. I understand, just hit us back when your cable develops an issue." What? I asked if damage happened to either my phone or my laptop would they pay for the damage? I've asked for a refund

that's pretty much how Oneplus handles everything. worst service ever

For what its worth, the OP cables seem to be fine . . . I've been using them daily for a few weeks . . .

I don't think the cables will show erratic performance but it may overload the charger if it isn't built to handle the higher draw..

TechMatte Micro USB to USB C adapter

Figured I'd pass this one in case anyone was interested.IMG_20151124_144030.jpgIMG_20151124_144059.jpgIMG_20151124_144104.jpg

Just got two micro USB to USB C adapters from Amazon. So far they're great! That Google engineer Benson reviewed them twice. The first time he said they weren't compliant, but they reached out to him and have corrected the problem, so they are compliant now.
They came in a two pack for $10, and came quickly through Amazon Prime. Anyway, figured I'd share with y'all.

Re: TechMatte Micro USB to USB C adapter

The cables from OneMinus on eBay don't work. They don't even fit well in the USB-C port, I had a hard time pulling it out of the phone. Another seller on eBay passion201314 has some white cables that work fine with rapid charging. I am using an Anker 5 port desktop charger.

there is actually a USB port type c to recharge faster on the Nexus 6 I read the article on the site geeknetwork.fr
