Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Pre Order / Shipping Discussion

Clancy3434, when did you place your order?
October 4th, day of the announcement.

Was originally supposed to ship last Tuesday. Submitted another request for a call back this afternoon (6th time getting in touch with Google)... while I was waiting for the call back the order finally shipped, and they overnighted it as well.

Label created... no actual shipment yet so not in the clear, but finally looks good.

I ordered before 0700 am on the morning after the announcement and got Nov 15-17. The thing that kills me is that I can walk into my local Verizon store or Best Buy and pick up a pixel 2 XL right now They have them instock. So why bother with a presale if you are going to make it available to retailers and the general population before fulfilling presales. Tempted to cancel my order all together and just buy locally or buy something else. The Note 7 presales and delivery were on par and on time. I gambled on Google taking care of their own customers. Lesson learned. GOOGLE is the king of internet searches and the vanilla android is far superior but they cannot seem to get shipping and supply and demand down pat.

Just received mine and was delivered as promised by Google and Ontrac. Was concerned that Ontrac was going to mess this up. I have the blue hue when shift. It doesn't bother me as much but it definitely there. Should I ask for a replacement? Its really only noticeable on white or heavy white pages/screens.

Since so many have the blue hue it stands to reason any replacement will as well. I think Google is supposed to be responding to this issue with some type of update(fix).

Really close to cancelling my Panda order. It is a nice to have, not a need to have. My current phone is plenty capable. It's taking too long.

If it's not a pressing need why cancel? You could have a Panda coming soon. My current phone is plenty capable as well but ya know that new phone smell is pretty nice while it lasts.

You make a good point. I pre-ordered the iPhone X and it's coming Friday. I wasn't planning on keeping it, but since it's coming Friday and the Panda isn't due for ANOTHER 4 WEEKS (wow!) the temptation to cancel is strong

And I ordered both phones opening day

Wow, 4 weeks yet! A lot can happen in 4 weeks. You might decide to keep the X and forget the Panda, but either way you got lots of time and can always cancel or even send it back. Your call but in that situation I'd maybe wait and see. Choose between the two.

One thing that you might think about in deciding between. the two is screen repair costs, should the worst happen. iPhone X screen repair cost is apparently $279, which is over $100 more than for the iPhone 8 or 8+.

Fixing an iPhone X's screen will cost $279 without AppleCare+

I'm copying my data over from my Pixel and they're right next to each other. It's quite apparent when comparing them side by side, especially the edges. It's as if blue light is leaking through and the separation between the glass and screen is wider than it should be. I don't see how an update will fix this. I'll play with for a couple of days to determine if a replacement is necessary. Leaning toward yes.

True. Another good point. I might just do that.

Yeah. True. I'm typically not worried about screen damage. So far in my office history I've avoided that. Long may that continue :)

All right! Ordered Oct 5th. Got an email from FedEx saying scheduled to be delivered tomorrow Nov 1st. Hope I get a keeper.

Just my two cents. I contacted google through email. XL 2 supposed to ship 10/30, was told that due to high demand some shipments have been delayed.

I ordered one (64GB JB) on the 25th and it still hadn't shipped. I cancelled that one, ordered an P2XL JB 128GB this morning and it shipped this evening.

Wow ordered this morning and shipped in the evening. Lots of us could only wish for such a thing. :)

I know this is a shipping forum but I've seen lots on her about the screen, idk if it's just worse but I look at my og pixel and I see a blue shift, never even noticed it til people were talking about the new phone having it.

Ordered Just Black Pixel 2 - Unlocked - 64 GB - at 11 PM - 10/31 - due to ship 11/1 - hope it goes as planned - :D
Ordered from Goolge Store

Yeah. It worked out. I was going to be pushing 64GB anyways so I figured I just spend the money, get the phone now, and never have to think about storage crampage again (I know about the unlimited online storage but I like to keep all my music, photos, and videos local to keep data usage down).

So question, are these phone made to order? Or they are already made just sitting for 3 weeks cause that is what we are given when ordered? If made to order it would have been a good time to get a better screen attached..
