Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Pre Order / Shipping Discussion

Has anyone got their Google home mini's yet? I know it should happen within 3-4 weeks, just curious if some of the first round shipments received theirs?

Slightly off topic, but since you asked... My 2 XL was shipped on the 17th and activated on the 19th (if I remember correctly), and I received my email for the free Google home mini yesterday, Nov 7 at 9pm Eastern. Click the link, choose a color and it's done. Very easy to order. Says it should arrive in 2-4 days, but the weekend is on the middle. If it's delayed, no big deal, not like when waiting for the phone.

There's also another thread on here specific to the free mini's if anyone wants to know more.

Good Luck. I called every day for 4 days. Hope your luck is better.
They failed again today. I told them to just drop it off at my front door if I'm not home but they didn't do that. I also told them to deliver it after 4:00pm when I'm home.

Do you live near the FedEx hub you can go and pick the phone up?

I learned the hard way when mine was coming in on a Friday night that Google has set delivery conditions as:

No signature required
Weekday only
Cannot hold at facility

Stupid.

No signature, but you cannot have it held securely at a facility. Then, when most people would be home on Saturday, they do not allow FedEx to deliver.

You couldn't design a more insecure process if you tried. And the most convenient option folks would want for convenience (hold for pick-up) is not allowed.

You can check it out. Go to the tracking site>>delivery options. You'll see that the "hold at facility" choice is not "live".

That is unfortunate. It's almost like you would have to take time off from work just to be able to get the phone. That is crazy and shouldn't be necessary. I guess I got lucky since I live in an apartment complex and FedEx drops the phone off in the leasing office.

I got bit by all this foolishness. Stayed home from Work on a Wednesday. Phone not delivered until Saturday. Made a lot of calls to FedEx. Don't know when or if I would have gotten it if I hadn't.

Still don't have the pixel in my hand. Fedex won't let me pick it up. This is so frustrating. I called them and they said that they don't need my signature and will tell the driver to leave it inside my apartment building. What is so frustrating is that I was home on Tuesday and they still failed to deliver. I don't think the guy actually tried to deliver my package.

Anybody else having trouble getting into the Google store to check their order?

I have Chrome signed into my google account and usually I would just click the store link and it would keep me logged into my google account. Once in the store I could see my orders and previous orders etc.

Now it takes me to the store but it's like I've been logged out, but the link to log in isn't working. In fact the "Buy" button link isn't working either. Hopefully it's just a site bug.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to order a Pixel 2 from the UK Google Store (I'm living in Hungary) and have it delivered to one of my friends who can send it to me. I found a post on AC as well as AP about being able to pay with my own card. I can enter my card details, but my billing address (country) and ZIP code is not on the list, given that we don't have a Google Store in Hungary.

In this case, is it a problem if my billing country isn't correct? I wanted to ask around before proceeding.

Hope FedEx manages to deliver my package this time. Update- Yes, finally FedEx actually did their job. Can't wait to get home and unbox my beast.

That isn't technically allowed with FedEx, unfortunately. Google ships them with specific restrictions against doing this for some reason. My phone arrived at the Depot about 15 min from my house on a Saturday morning. They wouldn't allow me to pick it up unless Google contacted FedEx giving specific permission to do this. Google of course said they "weren't allowed" to do this. So they'll "allow" a device valued at up to $1000 to be left at a front door with no signature, but disallow it to be secured held for pickup with a signature required for pick up. –I had to wait through the weekend but mine arrived before 8 AM on Monday morning. This was two weeks ago.

But I'm hoping @arav24 has better luck than I did . . .

FYI: Someone on the forum suggested that I take some cash and a smile and head on over to the depot to see if I could entice someone to hand it over.

I finally have it! I'm really liking the bigger screen than my 5 inch pixel. The blue tint is definitely noticeable and miles worse than my original Pixel. I don't know if it's a deal breaker or not yet.

Anyone that wants to pick their phone up at FedEx and can't have it held by calling or on line just stop in your location and ask them to hold it for you. I just did and saved myself from sitting around all day waiting

Wow, that's great! I just called and didn't try driving there. Good for you!

Yeah–Glad you got it today!
