Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Pre Order / Shipping Discussion

I ordered through Google and am doing phone trade in. New phone shipped today but haven't been charged for it yet. I did financing with Google's partner. Will I be charged after trade in or do they not usually charge right away?

Pre Ordered 10/10 XL JB 64 though Google Finance. Had to threaten to cancel order on 11/1 via chat. They escalated my issue and i also called finance and they said there are no issue on their end. Today it is now showing shipped with eta 11/7-11/8. Still haven't heard from Google but it is definitely unacceptable that people are ordering now and getting their phones with in a few days while those that pre ordered got screwed. Google definitely dropped the ball on pre-order roll out. The least they could have done was over night the phone or offer me something.

Just do what I did: cancel and reorder. True, you shouldn't have to and it reflects poorly on Google, but you want the phone and that is the path of least resistance to getting one.

But then you lose out on the google home mini.

Ok long story. I ordered both pixel 2's on Oct 19 or so. With the pixel 2 shipping a few days earlier than stated. The 2xl had a ship date of Oct 31. Decided the pixel 2 it was just too small for my liking. The OG Pixel was fine, but they actually made the pixel 2 a bit smaller, so it was a no go for me. The 2xl (JB) didn't ship on the 31st. Nor on Nov 1st or Nov 2nd. I saw I could still cancel. So I did. As I really now wanted the Panda 2xl. But I just couldn't wait for another 4-6 weeks for it to become in stock again. I reordered the (JB ) xl2.xl2.jpg

Let's hope when you get your Pixel 2 XL that it arrives with an operating system:

Now another issue with the Pixel 2 XL has apparently cropped up. As reported by Android Police, some Pixel 2 XL owners are receiving their units without an operating system installed on the device. Many folks have been taking to the Reddit forums and the Ars Technica forums to address their complaints and find other unlucky Pixel 2 XL owners.

I ordered kinda blue on Oct 5th, had shipping date on Nov 20th, changed to Nov 13th two weeks ago.
The 'cancel order' for my order was no longer there from yesterday. So, I guess it's close to being shipped.

I’m seeing others that ordered later and are receiving sooner than I am and I’m thinking my mistake was opting for the free shipping as to why it is delayed. (Black p2 64GB) As this model seems to be the easiest one to procure. Next time I’ll pay for expedited. Still have 10 days to go.

You would think that expedited shipping means that when your item is ready for shipment, that it ships out via overnight shipping but it doesn't with Google. I was told that expedited shipping moves your phone through quickly, assuming it's available and free shipping (for phones in stock) means that yours sits there for 1-2 weeks, which essentially means 2 weeks, and then it's shipped via 1- or 2-day shipping, though thre have been exceptions.

Makes no sense but that's what I was told.

But your phone has arrived by now hasn't it??

yep, arrived and enjoying it the past 24 hours. Such a sweet device. Happy with my choice.

I've just jumped somebody up the queue. Cancelled my order. I hope your phones get to you speedily

I think I figured this shipping thing out. Pre orders are likely being sent in batch shipments and regular orders are being fulfilled from separate inventory. That's just a guess and only thing that makes sense to me.

Well I canceled my first order, then reordered and it shipped the next day, yet the ship date was listed as Nov 7. So sometimes it ships early while others are still waiting

How did you get it that early without paying for it? Like me and steveg said you either get it 3-4 weeks after you activate or you get a coupon after 3-4 weeks.

Sorry, I think my post might have been confusing. The GH Mini was free to those who ordered by October 19, but we didn't receive it yet. We'll get a coupon code 3-4 weeks from shipment date that we can redeem for the Mini. The person who ordered from Best Buy seems to have actually received the Mini before the phone, but I don't think anyone who ordered directly from Google has one yet.

Im thinking pre orders and current orders have completely different inventories which is why if you can't pre-order and reorder it ships right away. Again it's a guess

No phone yet. 3 days of no attempt to deliver. Multiple calls. No return call from local hub. Smartpost reps ain't telling me the whole story. They say that they don't know why they are not delivering. They deny it is lost or stolen.

I called this morning at 7AM. The lady said that they are going to take my package off the Fedex Ground Truck and put it on a FedEx Home Delivery Truck for Delivery today.

If no phone today, I am going to write one Hell of an email to complain. If I ever get the phone I will contact Google to see what they have to say.

This has been one hell of a lesson on FedEx and free delivery from Google. It would have been worth the extra money to pay for better shipping. I think that might be the point that FedEx wants to make.

Or have items shipped to your work. I've had better luck that way and I don't have to rush home to get items. Items delivered to my home never need a signature. Even $1k phones.

I used to do that. Got in a hurry when I ordered. Found out it would be FedEx so I thought it would be straightforward. I am old. Times have changed. FedEx has changed. Not for the better. I Next time I will ship to Work.
