Google Pixel XL - Preorder /order/shipping thread

And what was your order date? Mine was 10/7 and still no email....

All the glowing reviews comic out today don't make the wait any easier!

I ordered on 10/6. When I ordered they said it would ship 10/24 so I'm happy it's coming a few days early.

So would Project Fi orders get lumped in with the Play store? :)

Google's Project Fi runs a separate inventory from Google's Play Store, and appears to be preparing to ship its orders much faster.

I had ordered a 32GB Quite Black Pixel XL from the Play Store on 10/14 with estimated delivery of 11/24-11/27 - a configuration that has essentially been out of stock there since - but I went to Project Fi this afternoon and ordered the same (available for preorder), and have an estimated delivery of 10/27-10/31 (and then canceled the Google Play order). Of course, this presumes you're going to use Project Fi service (at least for a bit) - financing the phone is not an option through Project Fi if you don't maintain service with them (they'll bill you the full balance due immediately). No activation fee, no early termination fee, so little risk.

Edit - worth noting that my estimated delivery times are based on the free shipping method. I know that before ordering the Project Fi site had indicated that my phone would ship on 10/21, and the 6-9 days would appear to reflect 'processing' time as well as actual ground shipment; if one were to order with expedited shipping they'd likely see it considerably faster.

I'm already on Project Fi, and already have my phone ordered through them. :) With any luck it should be here Friday...

It was a mostly tongue in cheek comment on splitting up the shipping threads between Verizon and Play Store. Since the Play Store is handling the Project Fi orders, but as you point out it looks like the inventories are separate.

It shows up on your Play Store order history, but I wonder if they're being packaged out from the same distribution centers, given the wide gap in ETA. Either way, I'm happy.

But yes, anyone posting about their personal experience as far as shipping information, PLEASE detail your purchasing source, as that's highly relevant to how normal or how unusual your shipping information/ETA may be.

My order at Google Store just change from PENDING to PROCESSING... What does that mean?
That's means they are charging you now and it's getting ready to be shipped soon. I'd guess based on that it'll be shipped out later today or tomorrow

Once they start shipping we will at least know if they're coming from the same cities or not. Assuming as you note that people post who they ordered with...

The anticipation is kinda killing me over here, I've refreshed the Play Store probably 50 times today... I need to calm down :(

Me too. Mine still says pending estimated delivery 21st-24th. I've talked to Google 2 separate times and both times they said I should have my phone on or before the 24th because of the expidited shipping but I'm still stressed lol.

So, it seems that - once again - Google is screwing its most loyal customers, those who pre-order new devices from the Google Store, sight unseen.

When are Google Store orders going to ship???

It does seem that way, however I remember when I was on Verizon (quite a while ago). They do seem to ship phones faster than any other carrier that I can remember. They want to get that phone in your hands as soon as they can, especially if you're a new customer.

With Google, this comes with the territory. Which the exception of maybe the Nexus One, or Nexus S which I walked into Best Buy and bought outright; my ordering experience with them has never been normal.

There is a Verizon corporate store within walking distance of my office. I went over there today at lunch and they told me they would have all the available Pixels and sizes in stock to sell Thursday. So, what I'm not getting is if you are on Verizon, why would you pre-order, worry about shipping, possibly receive a damaged unit, or get it later than the 20th when you can just walk in a store and get one Thursday?.......UNLESS you don't live near a corporate store, I get that. I think it has been verified that they will all get the updates at the same time and even if you buy from Google the 3 Verizon apps (that they say you can remove) well load as soon as you sign in to your Google account. For me, I want to see the device I'm getting before I pay nearly $1000.

I have the same delivery window and also paid for expedited shipping. I've been hoping to actually get the phone on the 20th because that's launch day, but I probably would have needed to get shipment notification today for that to be possible.

Which color/size did you order? I'm on Silver 128GB XL.

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't hate my current phone with the fire of a thousand blazing suns...

Yeah I understand that. For me it was the ability to get the Daydream VR headset for free with the preorder. Maybe not a big deal but it was an incentive for me.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I remember buying the S6 on T-Mobile and I got it WEEKS before any other carrier released it. I think it was some sort of screw up, which leads me to my next point: carriers screw this stuff up. On Verizon's website, the language has been anything but consistent. "Delivers by 10/20." Then on another page, "Ships by 10/20" and little inconsistencies like that.

A question: what does Verizon lose by shipping the phones a day earlier than Google? Google is not going to slap them on the wrist, Google is not going to ban them from selling their phones, Google is not going to do a darn thing to them. Instead, everyone who bought the phone on Verizon to use on Verizon is very happy. It's win win for Verizon. Yes it sucks for the folks who ordered from Google, but, Verizon doesn't care about those folks and Verizon breaking the rules and shipping early doesn't exactly mean Google has "Screwed" their customers.

Anyway, just my thoughts as someone who bought from Verizon, for all intents and purposes hates Verizon, and as far as I can tell, will not get their phone in the next few days from Verizon because mine has not shipped yet :)

Google is giving away the daydream vr for free with the preorder of the pixels as well...
