Google Play Music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

There is no manual upload process as far as I can see. It has to be done via the upload client tool.
And I'm viewing everything on the play website, not on phone (but phone matches what the website shows, ie missing tracks)

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

tried uploaded these 58 tracks on a different laptop (with a fresh install of the upload client).

client says 58 tracks uploaded.
check the website, no sign of them.
the "last added" list also doesn't show these tracks.

Probably because they're already uploaded. :-\ Delete them from the cloud and try again from that other system......

they are NOT already uploaded.
i have searched for these missing tracks already in my online library and they are NOT there.
there is nothing to delete.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Sorry, thought it was a subset of the 58 that aren't showing up.

At this point, I'd either suggest creating a new account to try with, give the tracks to a friend to try uploading, or investigate if there's anything unusual about these files that could cause any issues.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

if you upload an album called "my album 1" with a track called "my song 1" in it
and then you try to upload "my album 2" that also has "my song 1" on it
it fails to put this track in "my album 2"

This has caused me loads of grief because i have all the albums for an artist
and then it screws up the compilation albums or best hits type albums or remastered albums etc

Probably not your problem but it sure is mine
why they cant just put a link in so your albums are full i don't know :?(
I would pay for them to do this right but naaaa never happen :?( so i cant use the service

i'm not seeing that problem at all.
i have many tracks that have the same name (some the same artists in different albums, and other different artist with the same track name), and all appear in the correct albums.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Dam I though a had an idea for you :?(

I am trying out Amazon cloud player now

I think my problem is when i used to use itunes match it replaced a lot of my tracks with exact duplicates :?(

and i cant make "goggle play" to allow exact files to be in more than one album
it only allows it in the 1st album you upload.

If they would just put a link in at their end i wouldn't have all these compilation albums with loads of tracks missing :?(

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

I am having the same issue. I have a 5 track album, but 1 of the tracks will not show in Google Play. It's very annoying.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

FOUND A SOLUTION. Just change the name of the file. 1 character is all that is needed and the upload client will upload the file.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Thanks dan rucker but your solution only solves the "re upload" prohibition. Your trick does indeed allow the same track to upload again, but if that track was already not appearing online, then it still does not appear online.... (sad face)

I too have had albums very recently uploaded only showing SOME of the tracks.. None of my settings are different now than my previous thousand-plus uploads (all successful). I notice that the uploader says all XX songs were uploaded successfully. The troubleshooter shows no errors. My song count went from 1067 to 1070 after a "successful" 10 song upload. and sure enough, in the album online only 3 tracks were showing (not sequential tracks either). Varying results with many other albums, but NONE successfully had all songs upload.

Previous tips given here: refresh phone, refresh app, re upload file, try a different version of the file, etc etc.. all failed. I also re installed, rolled back my updates on phone, used the web-only app on the phone, and some other things - nothing worked. Also, another poster suggested that songs were being tagged as unknown, but no that was not the case. Not only did i meticulously tag my files first, but i did search every entry, song by song to see that all album/artist info was OK after uploading. I thought maybe the auto-matching was changing my tags during upload, but no.

Furthermore, in addition to some files not uploading, i was having glitches in deleting albums. I tried to delete the faulty albums online, but they kept re appearing after either a refresh or later in the day (weird).

After all that troubleshooting, nothing worked - the problem persisted. so i gave up and did nothing for a few days except to check my online library daily and RE-DELETE those albums which keep coming back. Fewer of them came back each time, really weird.. NOW, a days later, i tried again to delete the albums and THIS TIME THEY DID NOT COME BACK so I thought, hey maybe the system is running again. So i uploaded some albums and, yes - - - my albums are uploading correctly again...!!! (no changes to settings)

Apparently google music is still having growing pains. I believe this was all server hiccups - google may have been transferring files from one server farm to another, or doing some sort of massive maintenance cycle or upgrade (which explains why some users and not others had this problem, since their data is spread over many many locations). Either way, everything is working again (very happy!!!)

IN CONCLUSION - at this point, i can fairly definitively say settings and tags were NOT the issue causing this problem!! All my methods and settings and tags are the same now as when i had the problems.

agree. same song names will not cross contaminate into other albums if artist and album tags are correct.

If your tags are correct, then yes, that is a serious bug/glitch/error... unfortunately it would be for another thread than this current one!! :-(

try to do a search and see if anyone else has this problem, good luck!!

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

I am seeing this same issue as well. A couple of nights ago I uploaded about 5 new albums and only 3 are complete. The other 2 have as few as 2 songs for the whole album. New artist to my music altogether and only got 2 out of at least 10 songs for the album. Very annoying.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

UPDATE

I think I figured it out. It really is server issues, not app features or glitches causing this issue.

When I first had this issue, it lasted a few days, went away. A few days later I had the problem again during which time i noticed:

When an album was incomplete, I would delete the album (planning to re upload the whole thing later).

After some hours went by the album would reappear (without me uploading it again) but this time I noticed different songs missing. It turns out the tracks that DID NOT appear the FIRST TIME are the ones appearing later!!

This tells me there are server syncing issues going on. The uploader app reports a successful session because it doesn't real-time read the contents of the servers. The servers normally update and report back within minutes at most, but during whatever massive maintenance or file moving cycle google is performing, things take longer...

If I had just waited a few hours, the entire album would've eventually shown up I believe. This also perfectly explains my issues from a week ago - those albums would keep appearing after I deleted them, and with different songs - which at the time i assumed were RANDOM different tracks, but I now realize they were the tracks from the FIRST FAILED upload appearing a day late!!

So anyone else having this issue, see if waiting it out works. Google music is growing so fast, and so much extra storage has to be brought online, that google is dynamically adding server farm capacity and certain users in certain (possibly geographically located) areas will see rolling server sync issues, which are normally invisible to the user.. but sometimes not, as we have seen. This also explains why only certain users have the problems while the other posters here have never heard of it. User data is stored/allocated across many physical buildings transparently.

My second failed album started working within a day and now I have returned to full uploading, dozens of albums now with no issues. Again, I HAVE CHANGED NO SETTINGS OR PREFERENCES OR METHODS during all this! The issue will just come and go, and you just have to wait it out!!

I can now absolutely confirm this issue has NOTHING to do with what type of file or corrupt music rips or whatnot, as proposed by an earlier poster. I have now uploaded all the same versions of albums that FAILED before, now successfully, again without doing anything different.

Google will keep ironing out the kinks and this issue should disappear.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Riddle me this... Uploaded this album to Google Music and the album tracks are not there. But the freaking album cover is clearly shown... What the balls!

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Look for something called unknown album, it usually has a grayed out box in place of album art. It's likely the missing songs will be there by track and song title. I spent most of yesterday editing unknown stuff to match about 12 albums that I uploaded by clicking the 3 little dots next to the songs and editing album info. Maybe someone out there knows a less time consuming way to do it.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Got the same problem here and have found tons of "unknown album" but I don't get given the option to edit album info when I click the 3 dots, does this only work if using a pc?
Any thoughts peps?

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

on a side note, does anyone know if there is a google support forum for Play Music? (i know there are productforums for maps, gmail etc but can't see anything for play music).
the issue i have now is the one where it refuses to add tracks that it deems are duplicates.

so i have 2 albums that happen to have the same track.
1 album is from the artist in question.
1 album is a compilation album that has the same track.

the uploader tool refuses to upload/add the track in the compilation album as it already exists in a different album (although the meta data is different).
in my opinion this is a false positive as it is not a duplicate. yes the physical track is the same but the meta data is different thus is not a duplicate.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

Make sure all the id3 tags in the files (presuming that you use MP3s) are correct, incl Album, album artist, date, track #, etc. I use MP3TAG in addition to MediaMonkey to manage all tags.

If this is correct, I wonder if all these issues are resulting from Google searching for matches in their library. My understanding is that if you upload a song /album they have, they don't store YOUR file(s) , but grant access to theirs. How do they find a match? Might be sound search... Just a guess.

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

all the tags are correct.
i've had this happen more than once with different tracks (ie when you have the track in an album as well as a single or EP).
google play music simply refused to let you have the same track exist more than once in your library (which is a foolish oversight if people happen to have compilation or "best of" albums).

Re: google play music - uploaded tracks not appearing

If you search for the missing track titles at the top of the Play Music app, do you find them there?

I'm not saying "problem solved". There's probably something wrong with the meta data on those tracks.

Chenks already stated the tags (meta data) were correct.

But Chenks, just to be sure, download MP3TAG v 2.58 and open the directory where those files are.
