Google Possibly Investing in Songza

IMO half-***** ignorant opinion specs only matter as much as what they allow a device to do with them. So...Jeff, Apple's increasing specs only matter in that they allow better performance and additional features. ...just like android. Better specs just for the sake of arguing seems rather pointless to me. The Note 3 has 3GB of RAM but it only matters because it was actually NEEDED to power all the Note'isms...not because other phones only have 2GB and the Note 3 is, therefore, superior.

True. That is why an iPhone 5s with a dual-core processor and 1 GB ram is just as fast and smooth as any Android phone, and faster than most. Optimization is the key.

Totally agree. It's not just the 5s. The same can be said even of the 4s. Hell, the budget WP7 device on 256 megs of ram kept up with Android in terms of performance.

As far as why they improve, graphics for games. Unlike Android, those specs aren't necessary to manage the OS.

The Galaxy series started in 2009. iPhone sales since Q1, 2009 are around 482,000,000.

Lol, no. The Galaxy S phones did not exist in 2009.

Galaxy S phones were first released in the middle of 2010. The first iPhone was released in June 2007. By the time the first Galaxy phone was released, the iPhone had already been out 3 years.

Why do you make this stuff up when you know I will call you on it?

So are you saying there will be no spec bump in the iPhone 6? It will have the same hardware as the 5S?

Oh so we agree specs do matter. Glad we got that out of the way.

They have to increase the specs for the games that are going to be coming, especially with the delicious new APIs. Games are going to be much prettier than they've ever been for smartphones. It's not needed to run the OS though.

Okay, since Q!, 2010, about 440,000,000 iPhones have been sold. Still not close.

Even as such, the point was the Galaxy series and he never said otherwise so the point is still very much valid.

No, he spoke of the Galaxy S phones:

The Galaxy S was the first of the Galaxy series so that doesn't discredit it. JeffDenver, did you mean the full Galaxy lineup which drastically beats iOS or did you mean just the flagship Galaxy S series?

For which part?

List of Samsung's phones: Samsung Phones

Count the number of non-Galaxy devices and look them up. The best seller was the Behold 2 which was a T-Mobile exclusive and sold almost none as it was at a big premium in comparison to the MyTouch and the cube interface was laughable.

Now:

Android climbed to 79 percent of smartphone market share in 2013, but its growth has slowed

Android's 79 percent marketshare

Samsung Android device market share: 63% | BGR

Sammy's 63 percent of Android

Do the math there, that's 48.98 percent of the smartphone market that is all Android with only the Galaxy devices harboring any real sales. 40% of the market was being less than generous to them.
