Google Possibly Investing in Songza

List of Samsung's phones: Samsung Phones

Count the number of non-Galaxy devices and look them up. The best seller was the Behold 2 which was a T-Mobile exclusive and sold almost none as it was at a big premium in comparison to the MyTouch and the cube interface was laughable.

Now:

Android climbed to 79 percent of smartphone market share in 2013, but its growth has slowed

Android's 79 percent marketshare

Samsung Android device market share: 63% | BGR

Google's 63 percent of Android

Do the math there, that's 48.98 percent of the smartphone market that is all Android with only the Galaxy devices harboring any real sales. 40% of the market was being less than generous to them.

Doesn't really matter. He was speaking of the S series. He even corrected me, and showed that the S series didn't come out until 2010 and iPhone had a 3 year lead. So, I removed sales for the first 3 years, and iPhone still crushed them.

No, you stated Galaxy S and he stated that it didn't come out til then. I suppose he will be the one to clarify on that note though if he chooses to do so. I've mostly been on the side of the iPhone in this thread but I take statements as they're given, not as it best suits me and as it was given, the statistics are there. Leaves an awful taste in my mouth to back the worst cell phone company in history.

Yes now that Apple is copying, it is time to stop talking about copying.
You don't seem to understand. Let me clarify.
Every time something comes out for one of the mobile operating systems, this debate will break out once again.
And nothing will come of it. Do you know why? I'll give you an opportunity to figure it out for yourself.

They have to increase the specs for the games that are going to be coming, especially with the delicious new APIs. Games are going to be much prettier than they've ever been for smartphones. It's not needed to run the OS though.
So basically, the same as it is with Android.

Okay, since Q!, 2010, about 440,000,000 iPhones have been sold. Still not close.
Apple had a 3 year head start and TONS of advertising. It is not remotely the same thing. It is like saying Apple must be a failure because Blackberry way outsold them before the iPhone came out. It';s a ridiculous argument.

Why are you so afraid to compare current phones?

So are you saying there will be no spec bump in the iPhone 6? It will have the same hardware as the 5S?
You really try to spin things, don't you? Don't put words in my mouth.
I am asking a question. I did not quote you.

Why are you afraid to answer the question? Do you think the iPhone 6 will have a spec bump or not?

Something has already come of it. Apple people are now forced to shut up about copying. That has not happened before. Apple has become so blatant at it, that they can no longer even bring it up.

The Galaxy S was the first of the Galaxy series so that doesn't discredit it. JeffDenver, did you mean the full Galaxy lineup which drastically beats iOS or did you mean just the flagship Galaxy S series?

Are you sure?

The Galaxy S series did not exist before 2010. There was one called just "galaxy" but it was not released in the US.
Samsung Galaxy (original) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - The Galaxy S phones are the phones responsible for Samsung's rise in popularity.

The Galaxy S4 sold 40 million units in it's first 6 months alone. I'm assuming it is a lot higher than that now. And S5 sales have been even better. If you add up all the Galaxy phones (like the mini) as well as the Note phones, it's way beyond 200 million. And none of those are low end products.

Despite announcing a record 51 million iPhone sales, Apple's share of the worldwide smartphone market fell to 17.6 percent in the three months ending in December, a 4.4 point dip from the year ago quarter. By comparison, Samsung upped its piece of the pie to 29.6 percent over the same period, up 0.6 percent year over year.

So, you want to compare the 5s with any Android phone? Go ahead and choose one. I'll wait.

Way beyond 200 million, but not even close to 440 million (just since 2010).

Now you're crawfishing. First you say they probably outsell iPhones, and when shown proof of the opposite, you spin off to advertising.

" It is like saying Apple must be a failure because Blackberry way outsold them before the iPhone came out. It';s a ridiculous argument."

I am saying that iPhones have outsold the Galaxy S series since the S came out. I'm not counting the time before the S was out.

So...why did you use the 200 million figure if you knew it was wrong? You seem pretty misinformed about Android sales figures in general. I have to wonder how accurate your iPhone estimates are as well.

Comparing on what basis?

Collectively, high end Android phones outsell iPhones. I think we've established that.

Where? I kinda doubt that. Not saying it's totally untrue but I doubt it. Plus at that point you have to determine what dictates high end.

I did not say that...Apple insider said that.

Samsung widens lead in worldwide smartphone marketshare, smaller OEMs rising
According to a fresh report from market research firm Strategy Analytics, Samsung shipped a record 86 million smartphones worldwide during the fourth quarter of 2013, boosting its stake of the worldwide market as Apple's share fell over the same period.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I am saying that iPhones have outsold the Galaxy S series since the S came out.
So what? The Galaxy S series does not = Android. It's one vendor, and it almost outsellls the iPhone all by itself.

This is despite the fact that Apple had a huge head start of 3 years, less competition, waged obnoxious frivolous lawsuits over trivial features, and way more (and better) advertising. Samsung products had to be phenomenal to do what they have done.

When was that established? High end Androids do not outsell iPhones.
Source?

"I did not say that...Apple insider said that."
Nowhere does it say that the Galaxy phones outsold iPhones, which is what you earlier claimed.

Nearly half a billion compared to something over 200,000,000? Do the math. I'll give you time to find a calculator.
