Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Exclusive: This is ‘Shamu,’ Motorola’s upcoming Nexus 6/X | 9to5Google

The device we’ve learned about*is actually going to pack a 5.92-inch screen, as mentioned above, with QHD resolution of*2560 x 1440. This dense screen according to our calculations comes out to be 498 PPI—a fairly impressive number for any smartphone. As such, it’s going to have a battery that is equally impressive, packing 3,200 mAh to power all of those pixels.

As for the camera, it’s actually going to be a 13 MP shooter on the back, and as previously rumored, we can corroborate that*it should have the ability to shoot*4K UHD video at launch. As for the front shooter, the device is going to have a 2 MP shooter that is indentical to the one on the 2nd generation Moto X.

It is of our understanding at this point that the device will have a Snapdragon 805 processor as many have suspected and will pack 3 GB of RAM. As far as flash storage goes, we’re directly familiar with at least one device of the 32 GB storage capacity, but other capacities will likely also be available at some point. Interestingly, we’re yet to become aware of a “Shamu” device running 64-bit Android L (which*was one of its most important new features), which leads us to question if the final product will take advantage of those performance improvements.

If Shamu = Nexus 6

5.9 inch QHD Display
Snapdragon 805 with 3GB RAM

If Shamu is just another Moto device:

I'm a little torn I've been interested in the last 2 notes but have stuck with nexus. If I am going to go that big I may just go note 4. Still big but with a remove battery and SD slot. Then again I may just go moto x

I hope this is one of the Nexus phones being released this year.

I think 5.9" would be pushing the limits of comfort to me. Also not a fan of that design either.

Specs seem fine. Hope the camera and battery are solid.

Have to say, I'm really disappointed with the Android portfolio this year.

Android problems -- so many choices, none of them quite right.

If these Nexus 6 rumors with a 5.9" screen turn out to be true, that'll be another disappointing Android release for me. Every major Android flagship this year has had some deal-breaking compromise(s).

The 9to5google article says that this leak doesn't rule out other Nexus 6 phones. There may be a smaller variant, along with this bigger one.

5.9" is just way too BIG. Will stick with my Nexus 5, since it will be getting Android L soon... and thus should be a even better phone.

A Nexus Phablet is just what I'd expect... if they didn't release a phone in that class I would be shocked -- phablets are one of the hottest consumer electronics products right now.

I would also be surprised that if they don't continue the current Nexus 5 (many rumors say it's no longer being made) they will produce a new Nexus in that size class (presumably the rumored 5.2" device).

I'll bet that there won't be a 2014 Nexus 7 -- phablets are killing 7" tablets.

Hence why there will be a Nexus 8/9 instead. I'm quite intrigued by a Nexus phablet. I've always thought it would be too big but at that resolution/size, it might make me leave my Nexus 7 at home.

I'm thinking on how important one handed operation truly is for me, and I can't think of many moments when it is. Hmm, decisions, decisions...
