Google Shamu: Motorola Nexus 6 (Nexus X)

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

I honestly have no idea. Because of all the 5.2" rumors, I often wonder if there is another Nexus in the pipeline (Moto or otherwise). That's just a guess, though.

Wonder if DROID Turbo is a 5.2" variant of Shamu.

From what I hear it's the same camera as the X, which is why I have not bought the X. Looks like the note 4 it is.

Hey Happasaiyan, can you tell us if it will have wireless charging? Thanks for the info!!!!
I don't know one way or the other.

Some things to think about, though-
-Moto uses Qi in the 360, so they are not opposed to using it
-At least one of the reasons they don't use Qi in the X is because of the materials. They won't have this restriction with the Nexus.
-It is a Nexus, and the last 3 released have had Qi

I don't think so. Was told the Turbo (Quark is the internal name) at least at one point in development had a 21MP camera. Was also told the Nexus internally is "more or less" the same as the new X. So, I don't know what that means with 100% certainty.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

Will it have wireless charging? I don't see how wireless charging is not a standard feature on all phones in 2014 and beyond??? The specs look awesome and I am ready for this to drop....

It's not a standard feature because it's like the VHS/Beta Max and Bluray/HD DVD wars.. There are different standards out there...... But Google is said to be pretty well invested in the Qi standard for wireless charging so I think they would push for it to be installed on any Nexus device... Plus they have their own Nexus wireless chargers as well. (I've been wrong before though) The main reason I passed on the Moto X 2014 and the Note 3/4 is it's not built in. (I think you can buy a back for the Note series but for that kind of money it should be standard in the dang device)

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

That might be a deal-breaker for me. I have owned the last 3 Nexus phones and if it doesn't have wireless charging, I will have to sell all my charging pads. They weren't exactly cheap.

EXACTLY!!! I bought 3 of the TYLT charging pads..... and before I had those I had the original Nexus 4 wireless charging Orb.... I don't think my Nexus 5 or 2013 Nexus 7 have seen an actual cable plugged into them more than a dozen times combined....

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

i really hope its not bigger than 5.2. im stuck on getting the new moto x or....i mean im waiting for L to release to see what new phones are out then

i was playing with an ip6+ yesterday and DAMN its so big. its SO big. id rather have a note, but still i mean, its so useless being that big. the note can actually function as a phablet with the pen and all, but i have zero use for any phone being that big. i just hope the n6 doesnt go big and become useless. theres absolutely no need going that big.

Depends on your usage I guess... I only talk on the "Phone" 60 - 80 minutes per month... 99% of my usage is internet, texting and what not... I'd just get a Nexus 7 with LTE if I didn't NEED that small amount of phone usage but I know the Nexus 7 is just a little too big (I tethered with it off my phone for awhile) so something in the 5.7 - 6 inch range is perfect for my usage.. I played around with the LG G3 and the Note 3 and they both comfortably fit in my jean or Khaki pockets so I can't imagine a 5.9 inch device would be overload....

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

same as you, i talk less than 2 hrs/mo. just for whatever usage i do (either texting or gaming) i have no use for such a big device.

Re: Motorola Nexus 6/Nexus X/Shamu

A six inch nexus, you have to be kidding me. Very disappointed.
