For months now I've been watching all the demos of voice search I was really excited because I liked the way voice search spoke the search results so what the heck is up with this new JB update from Verizon, I'm not getting any spoken results in voice search! I shows results but no speech...even S voice speaks, what gives?
Do I need to take the plunge into rooting or is there a setting in over looking, I rather not root but if that's what I need to do so be it.

Anyone care to comment

Thanks

It doesn't speak for everything. If you ask it what the weather is, what the next game is for your team, etc. it will talk. If you do a search that ends up being a general Google search on the internet it will not speak.

I have 3 Verizon gs3's with the 4.1.1 update and neither speak back, not even basic searches line weather or sports, I'm surprised there isn't an uproar over this...does anyone know what's going on?

After you have changed all the language and input methods to English US, ensure that your location settings is on. Got to Google Now > Settings > Privacy and Accounts > Google Location settings > esure the let google apps access your location is on and in the location services tab all three are checked (use wireless networs, use GPS and location and google search). I had the same problem and this setting fixed it. Hope this helps.

FOUND ISSUE AND FIX!!
I had this exact problem, Google now was no longer reading out search responses. I tried every fix I could find (changing languages, clearing cache, making sure speech output is on, media volume is on, etc...etc...) and nothing worked. FINALLY I found the problem. A few backs in efforts to fix an audio sync issue with youtube I had turned on (checked) Use NuPlayer (experimental) in Developer option>Media. I simply uncheck it and google now is responding in speech to all my searches as it did in the past. Very happy to hear her voice again (creepy). Anyways hope this helps anyone else with this issue.
