Got a used G4, should I worry about bootlooping?

He asked if he should be worried and the truthful answer is yes. No one said he should have a nervous breakdown about it or anything.

What, exactly, will worrying about it accomplish? I still haven't seen a published article that has offered proof that "worrying about it" actually prevented it from happening. Enjoy your phone...if it's one of the few that it eventually happens to, know that it would have happened anyway, even if you had been "worrying about it" all along.

If I were you, I'd stay in the mindset that it will bootloop eventually.

Reason? So that I can prepare for it when it strikes.

Exactly.
Every phone has the possibility of failure, just like every computer.
Do your data backups on a regular and frequent basis for every phone and every computer.
It just happens that our G4 models have a higher risk of needing the backups to be used.
Does the "higher" risk reach the level of "high" risk? Who knows? I am not worrying about it since I have no control over the circumstances.
Until it happens, I will continue to enjoy my great phone.

I have to agree enjoy it until it either boot loops into oblivion or you get bored of it and move onto something else. Well at least we have learned a lesson, as for myself I believe it's my last LG Android phone. A Motorola or Samsung phone has never had a problem as this in my collection since owing Android phones in 2008.

I've been wanting to get a G4 for the last three months but I have followed the AC threads regarding the bootloop problem and I need some reassurance. I can get a new G4 with a 603+ serial number but I can't find a definitive answer as to whether it is likely to have been resolved. Does anybody have an answer?

According to what I read so far in all threads regarding the bootloop issue. It appear that serial number 600+ does not suffer the issue.

I ordered a G4 after months of indecision due to the bootloop issue. It arrived today (serial no 602) and guess what I sent it straight back.

The reason I was looking in Reddit the night before it arrived and there are reports of bootloop all the way up to 605. I'm sure they don't all have the issue but I don't want the sword of Damocles hanging over me. So I'm now thinking of getting a G5.

I guess the G4 is basically garbage. Can't believe LG let the bootloop to stay in all serial numbers.

No way? Seriously? LG is crap.
It's shocking. Given that I've seen V10s starting to fail to the bootloop AND that newer G4 batches are STILL failing, I get the feeling that LG did not rectify the issue, and I'm not sure if they even care at this point.

If the G5 fails to the SAME issue again, LG will be in a hellstorm.....

Oh I'll never buy an LG product again. So far so good with my G5. I've said before, I'm giving LG a shot at redemption with the G5, and I'm thrilled with the phone. I was thrilled with the G4 too. Fingers crossed.

Otherwise, I'll be going strictly Nexus for the foreseeable future. It's really a shame. If the G5 boot loops it's gonna make me very sad. I've been with LG since the Optimus G. Love their phones.
