Got it! Google widget works now. Bing is dead!

I just went through all 16 pages and didn't see this mentioned or maybe it was and I didn't understand.

I go all the way through and have the google widget installed on my homescreen using launcherpro. Everything works for a search or 2 and then it basically freezes up on me. As far as I can tell, the only thing that corrects the issue is to restart the phone and then I get another search or two from the widget. Is there a permanent fix and has anyone experienced this issue? I haven't renamed the bing apk yet and wasn't sure if that will fix the issue. All I did was download the new google search, and launched using laucherpro.

Any comments?

Once I add Google Search as a widget to the top of my home page, I search, works great. Then I back out of the browser and go back to my home page and the search bar glitches out. It moves up flush with the notification bar and when I click on it to search my keyboard comes up but no text box or anything. Any letters I type stay stuck in the search bar and it does absolutely nothing. Any suggestions here?

I concur with ryplatt84. I have the same problem with the Enhanced Google Search widget docking under the notification bar after I enter a search query. I also use Launcher Pro. To delete the widget, you have to touch the area of the screen were it was previously located, not the top of the screen were it is currently located to drag it to the trash can. I've experimented with the widget on different home screens with or without widgets/icons and I have no clue why it does this. Weird =P

Hey were almost there. Developers excellent job!!! Now if you can solve this minor bug I will be almost completey satisfied with the Fascinate. Thanks to root!!!

Wow. I just installed this file on my Fascinate, running rooted/debugged EB01, and went into a force close loop of hell for the gapps. I was able to get into manage apps and delete it. Stopped force closing right away. So yeah, don't install this if your running the debloated EB01 rom.

i dl launch pro and i have google search on my home page but when i use search it comes up bing what do i have to do to have it use google on my browser??

open app drawer, open my files, select downloads, then select the apk file and install

you need to download to pc then to sd card. don't do it if you're running DL30 or EB01 though. you will have force close problems

Does this root-less Bing replacement still work with Android 2.2 on the fascinate?

No need for this fix if you're on 2.2, Eb01 comes rooted so all you have to do is flash a de-binged browser and flash the long press search fix.

Good answers guys. Zarguy do not use the apk posted in this thread on any 2.2 phone. Only intended for 2.1 phones.

Corey or anyone else for that matter. When OTA Froyo comes out do u think non rooted phones will be able to use "magnified glass" to search with google? or on TW Launcher for that matter? or still need something like the Google advanced APK and LauncherPro?

wow, i just got the fascinate yesterday and was really bent out of shape about the bing search and maps thing. you guys freaking rock.
