Got my HTC Evo yesterday ask if you have any questions!

:Crossing my fingers: Going on a cruise in Sept. Would be nice to be able to zoom while filming my kids. :)

Sorry, I'm not seeing any way to zoom the video. No controls for it in the video app. I only see zoom for pictures.

Here's a series of screencaps of attaching an image to a text message. This is using the default Messages app on the Evo. If you install Handcent (or some other SMS/MMS app), it will have a totally different process.

Can you show what it looks like when you receive an MMS? Do you see text with a thumbnail attachment?

I have two quick and hopefully very easy questions.

One: Could you confirm that the evo has the Car Home app? In Engadget's video when they showed the app list I didn't see it and that worried me.

Two: Can either the car home or some other feature open an app with a voice command? And if so can this be done with a wired mic/headset? I know that over bluetooth headsets this is supposedly not possible now (or at least voice dialing isn't). Essentially my dream is that I could do a lot of things with my phone without actually taking it out of my pocket. How much of this is possible?

And here's the car Home app (actually called Navigator)
Navigator

There is a settings page in Navigator that has the option "Automatically launch NaviPanel in car kit mode" whatever that means :-)

Oh, and no idea about voice commands yet. I'm at work so I can't really try ;-)

Ok, i've been thru all 23 pages of this thread and not 1 person asked if the back cover is made of plastic or metal and if it felt solid and didn't move while using the phone? Also, how does the screen hold up to finger prints and smudges? do you have to constantly wipe it off? Is a screen protector really needed or just something to get for piece of mind?

I read somewhere that there was a debate about if the EVO used Gorilla Glass and the HTC reps gave conflicting responses on if this was the case or not.

I have a Pre, and truthfully, like it. I just recently found out about the Evo, and the more I read, the more I like. Thank you so much for all the different questions and answers! I have a question about the hotspot feature.

Has anyone tried to link more than 3 items to it, and does the speed drain more with every item you add? And while the Evo is being used for the hotspot, can I still use other aps like games?

Thanks ahaed of time. :)

Thanks for all your replys to everyone. I'd like to know if you're using the SDK to take screenshots of your Evo screen or are you using an app?

back cover is plastic

Just to be clear, those are the 6 most recently launched apps and not technically a list of 6 running apps. Any of them could be closed.

Here's an app that lets you see up to 15 recent apps and looks very similar to the built in Android function. However since the developer hasn't figured out how to remap long pressing the home key, you have to assign to something else, like long pressing the search key.

Does anyone know if there will be a hack/3rd party app to get tethering for free, like mytether on the pre? I hope this doesn't sound too pirate-ish ;)

There are apps like EasyTether and PDAnet that do this, but they only work over USB and Bluetooth and they aren't free. Something else might come along.
