Got some noob questions

Each to their own. I've been working with computers for over 20 years so maybe I am not as paranoid as I should be, but I also don't make stupid mistakes. You are correct about people doing dumb things and storing private info on their phones etc. Everyone has some of that is but it is very hard to escape some of the risk if you want to use a smart phone. The stock launcher would do the same thing as Nova anyway so it is what it is.

I don't doubt they both would do the same thing for all intents and purposes but the difference is we have no choice with the stock, but we do with what we add on to our phones.

true enough. I think some things need to be explained more by the developers. The permissions are too generalized. Some people have mentioned that the Cyogen 7 Roms have a much better permissions section where you can allow or deny specific things for each app.
