Hey guys I was just wondering about the GPS and My Location features on the Eris...Before I updated my PRL, I had My Location turned off...since I have updated it and the phone has restarted, My Location is turned ON now. Whats the deal with that? Should you leave My Location ON for better performance or better coverage etc.? I don't exactly know what "My Location" IS. And how about the GPS? Should that be on as well for better coverage/performance? I always have GPS and My Location turned off (AND 3G most of the time) and the Eris seems to function just fine...but the question is will it function better with either or both of those turned on?

I leave my GPS on and have no battery problems at all. The main battery drains I found were widgets that are constantly going to the web to get information (Facebook, weather, calendar, sports, etc). I killed those updates and I'm fine.

The My Location feature is just an easy way to get your GPS to go to your location. With Google Maps, it shows you where you are on the map and will move with you. With other apps, it will show you things relative to your location. For example, with Weather Channel, it will show you the weather for wherever you are at that time, even if you don't know what city you're in - if your driving through an unfamiliar state or area, for example.

I wouldn't say that the Eris will function better with all of that on, but I doubt it will function worse.
