GPS repeatedly dropping after Oreo update

I just updated to Oreo 8.0 on my G6 and now in Google Maps my GPS repeatedly loses a connection, often for several minutes at a time. It happens several times each drive. Is there a way to fix this?

It is frustrating when trying to use navigation, as then I can't tell where I am or where the next turn should be. It makes Maps navigation practically useless because I can't rely on it.

GPS worked really well before the update, I almost never had GPS drop out. Now it happens 5-10 times every day. The only thing that I can think has changed is the Oreo update. Yes, Location Mode is set to High Accuracy.

I've seen this complaint about the G6 here before, so it might be a problem with the G6 firmware. Install GPS Status & Toolbox so you can at least see what the GPS receiver is doing. (And, of course, make sure that you have Location set to high accuracy if you want the GPS to work.)
