Just got on here to see if others were reporting this. My GPS was way off today, still is. Thought it may be JB, but looks wider than that.

Could it be the leap second?

Yea people in the Razr Maxx forums are having GPS issues. Maybe its a satellite issue or maybe its just some screw up with the last update. I guess I could look for my old Garmin to see if its a Satellite issue but I'll see. I'm pretty sure the guys who work on this stuff are probably off for the weekend and It'll probably be fixed by Monday

OR, just like that fine Oscar winner Independence Day, aliens are using our GPS satellites to communicate with each other and to coordinate a mass invasion of the planet earth.

Yea, mine doesn't give me the options to uninstall updates. By the way seeing as how you are on an Evo does your GPS work?

I just tried to get directions out says location unavailable....hmm must be satellite issue.
I checked the car gps and its of by about three and half miles

My Garmin is off too. But not as bad as my google maps. I don't know I won't worry about it anymore. Looks like the end of the world folks. 2012

wow thank goodness. i was about to come here and open up a post asking about this. it shifts me to the left of where i actually am. sometimes just a few feet, sometimes by a few blocks. it started doing this with really old google maps (something i rolled back to an earlier version before navigation stopped mentioning street names) so it can't be the updates. so i updated maps and it's still doing it.

So I just checked with my old Droid 2 and my hyper-accurate Delorme PN40. Both show me precisely where I am, while my GN shows me 1/4 mile west of my actual location. For the record, the Droid 2 is still on version 6.8.1 of Google Maps, while the Gnex is on 6.9.0. Both phones are on Ice Cream Sandwich, so it's definitely a Maps issue.

ETA: Ok, weird. Just checked my wife's phone (also a Droid 2). She's on 6.9.0 also, and hers works fine. I'm lost.

I read on another forum that it might be related to the leap second getting added tonight. Maybe it will be fixed in the morning.

Looks like the issue was related to the leap second. Well past midnight and now my Galaxy Nexus running JB is reporting my location accurately. All day I had problems with my Galaxy Nexus on both ICS and JB. My old Thunderbolt running Gingerbread had no GPS problems. Could have been an issue with how ICS and JB were interacting with the time change.

GPS is all about time + position, so it makes sense that if google enacted the change early in maps it would skew positioning a bit, and I guess that's what happened, because my GPS is dead-on accurate this AM.
