GPS several hundred feet off today

Will have to check mine to see today, it made my GNex look like crap yesterday, when my wife pulled her bionic and it worked fine, mine showed me 4 blocks away as well... I dont think I will ever live that one down.

her: "Do i turn left or right???"
me: "uhhhh...... hold on, wtf?"
her: "nevermind, Ill do it... why do you always mess with your damn phone?!, Jellybean! lol please."
me: tears roll down cheeks.

My GPS guided me all over Maryland last night, was very impressed.

Also, using Voice Search to find places = awesome.

Had the same problem yesterday morning and afternoon but seemed resolved by evening time

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

I ha a problem with it at 2:15 this afternoon. As I drove, about 10 minutes later it righted itself, and then was more accurate than it had been for a while. Go figure.

I am blaming aliens, or solar flares.

Had this problem yesterday, too. Luckily I was trying to find a record store in Austin, so it wasn't too hard.

Leap second?

I was wondering about that as well.... since GPS satellites depend on absolutely correct second down to the 1/100000 second or something like that. Perhaps our phones are not adjusting to
the extra second correctly? :)

It is happening on a LOT of Android phones all over the country. I even read about the same
issue on several other forums in Europe and parts of Asia. Not really sure what is going on.
Strangely, I haven't found any reports with iPhones/iPads running Google Maps. Just checked
my grandfather's iPad 2 and it is showing 3-meter accuracy on the map. My Android phones,
sitting next to the iPad 2 are still getting incorrect locations, by as much as 100 to 200 feet! :(

Just to rule out the possibility that it was caused by any recent updates, I took my old Droid
Charge from the basement. It has been sitting in the box since last fall because I have too
many other Android phone. I turned it on in the backyard and it immediately picked up the
location, but unfortunately, also the wrong location. It's showing that I'm 15 houses down the
street. (the edge of the blue circle is about 120 feet from my actual location)

Perhaps someone should report this to Google, NORAD, Air Force, or the Federation Council? :D :D :D

I was really glad to see this post this morning. Saturday when I saw my GPS acting all wonky I was getting ready to completely wipe my phone (sdcard and all) because of this and a couple other small bugs I'm experiencing in AOKP B39. Now That I know this was a common issue I wont be going THAT far.

I'm really scared right now....

there must be people out there who depend on Google Maps
navigation when they drive. It's just a matter of time before
CNN reports someone driving into a lake or grocery store
because the Google Maps navigation was giving wrong info!

Well sir, that is a Bold statement.

I have a Samsung Stratosphere and tried using google maps on Saturday only to find I was driving in a river. Switched to VZ Navigator to see if that helped. It didn't.

I made 2 calls on the road to Verizon and stopped at a store. The store was especially helpful telling me it looked accurate to them, even though the location showing was 2 blocks away.

Last night I took a photo of the road and gps location and was going to call today for a replacement phone. Which was the suggestion from phone tech support

Glad I thought to check here first. Hope they get it fixed soon.

I'd love to have a car that can be driven on water. Where did you buy your? :D

My phone also tried to navigate me into a pond this morning. Fortunately, I ignored it and didn't
get my car wet. :( I was also using VZ Navigator, not Google Map.

I have a Saturn (LOL) but since they went out of business I don't think you can buy a new one.
Sorry!
;)

That explains it.... Don't Saturns have plastic door panels that can resist being hit by baseball?
(at least that's the commercial I remembered) That's why it's possible to float water. :D

I did another test with my co-worker's Galaxy S II today. It's a completely stock phone. Took
it in my car and drove to Meijer. Or at least I tried to drive there. The Google Map navigation
showed my location as 100 feet parallel to the interstate that I was driving on.(at 70mph)
I ended up just ignoring it completely. On the way back, I did a battery pull and the GS II
did manage to navigate me with almost perfect accuracy.... can't figure out what's going
on....

how do you do that?

Get the GPS Status app, then go to "Tools" and "Manage A-GPS State." Tap reset. Your phone won't like this. It'll actually lock up, and reboot. Once it does reboot, it'll say "Activation Complete." However, at this point, your GPS's state has been reset, and a cold start will proceed. It will pull updated information from the A-GPS servers, which will contain the correction that was needed to fix the problem. Chances are, all GPSes based on A-GPS will start working correctly within a week, but this is a nice workaround. The GSII did this without the rebooting or reactivation.

It worked on the first try with both of my devices. I had to re-do it on my GNex on Sunday after having done so on Saturday, but as of yesterday, it has been very happy.

Very Nice. I used my Nexus for navigation yeserday around 1pm EST and it was pinpoint accurate again. Hoping it stays that way!
