I am not currently an Android user and am trying to decide whether to take the leap from iPhone to Android. Hoping I can find some good info on here that can help me decide. I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge possibly. I might take a look at the Note 7, but I have to buy my next phone before the Note 7 is readily available.

Hello, and welcome!

I'd say ask some questions in the S7 Edge and Note7 forums to be sure you're making the correct move. Also, the Note7 comes out in two weeks. Is it impossible to wait that long?

Welcome to the forums. Do you know anyone who may have a spare device that is newer that you can play around with for a few days?

In my work we do testing on different smartphones including Android phone, but the OS on them are a little old. I have never really tried any of the customization and control stuff I have heard people talk about as we generally keep our test devices pretty vanilla.

I would say that my initial thinking going back a couple of years on Android vs iOS is I thought iOS more mature and easier to use, but I suspect that I would dive quickly into the Android world to try to figure out how best to use it and understand what I am doing.

Oddly enough it is kind of impossible to wait that long. Daughter had her phone stolen, so we have decided to payoff the remainder of what I owe on my iPhone 6+ and upgrade now, with her getting my current 6+ and me upgrading to something new. Ideally I would be waiting even another month just to see what is going to be happening with the iPhone 7. Cost of the Note 7 is a little prohibitive as well.

Welcome to the forums! The S7 is an amazing device with endless tweaks and adjustments. Maybe too many if you're used to the iPhone doing it all for you... I love my S7! It's all a matter of what you are looking for in a device really! In any case, there are plenty of seasoned Android veterans on here to help you along your way! Good luck and have fun

Welcome to Android Central! You've come to the right place.:)

Welcome!🙋
As an iPhone user, all I would say is, there are some Androids to which it would be easier to make the transition than others.

Welcome to Android Central! The two devices you are looking at have very active forum threads here; and AC has reviews on devices and products, as well.

Welcome aboard, regardless of your platform!! :) All are welcome here!

Hello Jeff, welcome to the forums at Android Central!

I have the GS7 edge and love it, it's a great device.
The Note 7 is almost the same phone; bit bigger and with the S-Pen.

If you think you'll need the features of the S-Pen, than the Note 7 might be what you need.

But if you aren't sure, or don't care about the S-Pen, than the GS7e is the one you want.

Great hunting, and hope you like the new Android phone.

Nowadays switching from iOS-WindowsPhone and even from
the defunct Blackberry it comes to Not surprise

Now to select the New phone-Search forums & Phone comparison Sites
The SamGs-E and SGNote7 are oxon phones, but for those who

Dislike BigPhn Sizes are worthless. Wait for the release of iPhone7
to take an informed decision. Keep us updated-Bye

To belodion I though: You were an Android user,.Switch now-Hehe!

Welcome to the AC Forums!

Ask around in the S7 edge and Note7 subthreads. Folks there will be more than glad to help you decide.

From experience, the S7 edge is a wonderful device. If you don't have a need for the S Pen, the S7e will be more than dandy for you. However, I would recommend trying out the Note7 if you can since some people have tried one over at Best Buy and they seem to really like it.

Ended up pulling the trigger yesterday and buying a Galaxy S7 Edge. I like the feature set a lot. Need now to spend some time with how to customize it to my liking. Have been reading posts here about various launchers that may be used, which have been very informative. Also need to look at getting rid of some of the bloatware on the device, but good experience after hours of use.
