Group MMS solution

The only thing i've found that works correctly for group messaging is using an app called Handcent for messaging. Once I enabled group chat/MMS on that, it started allowing me to group chat on my default app also. All replies go into the group message thread now and not their respective individual ones. :)

Really? That is interesting, I'd love to be able to use the default messages app. I only use go sms because it supports group mms. So with just handcent downloaded you can use the default app and never even open handcent?

In Go SMS Pro:

click settings>advanced>MMS Group Chat...make sure it's checked. That's all it takes.

don't forget to disable all your other MMS programs.

Jelly Bean 4.2 has this capability baked in. My wife just made me root her One X last night so I could install a 4.2 ROM. She confirmed today that it works just fine, just like it did on her iPhone. I used Cyanogenmod 10.1. Obviously that's a somewhat complicated solution that won't be for everyone, but it's just one more reason to get away from carrier-modded skins.

**edit**

Doh, just realized how old this thread is...

Hey guys coming from an iPhone and windows phone 7 and used to having group mms, where I can send a txt to a few people and we can all reply to all in one text. I notice when I send a group txt to friends I now get reply backs individually from each person instead of as a group txt instead opens a text instance for each person. Is there a work around, possibly third party app? Third party app that does not require everyone to have the app, meaning I would like this to be cross platform and native texting?

Sent from my HTC One X using Android Central Forums

I can also confirm that once you get the Sense 5 update, group MMS should be built in. It is in the early builds for the HTC EVO LTE (basically the One X) based on the HTC One version of Sense 5.

But for the time being - use GoSMS, it's free and does it for you. The only drawback is that you have a goofy icon, but they all do, so it's something you will have to live with or change with another app.
